Your home town. Who famous (besides yourself ha) comes from your town?

A thread in the Introduction section reminded me I wanted to start about this.

My town was dull:

I don't know who was born in my town, but there are a lot of 'famous' people that live there. Interesting question, something I hadn't really ever researched before and I ended up finding some cool links! Now I live about 35 miles north of where I grew up, away from the 'burbs and into the country

wow, coolies camille, I didn't even know Michigan had a bloomfield. I thought of Illinois. I also thought Aretha was a southern gal, from Georgia perhaps. Thats what I get for thinkin'!

I've no idea where Aretha was born but she moved to Bloomfield Hills. I Googled, and all I could find were famous residents, not those necessarily born there. I'm pretty darn confident that none of the basketball players actually grew up there, but now live there. I'm interested to the point where I'm going to do a bit more research on it. Surely someone important was actually born there lol.

wikopedia says "Bob Seger, a rock and roll singer known for such hits as "Old Time Of Rock And Roll" is from Bloomfield.

lol-i thought it was toothbrushes, but i knew it was something....and ted is an awesome dentist...he does pediatric dentistry only and every kid thats ever been to him, my son included, adored him.

Fort Augusta is a brief walk from here. We did an escavation on the one house. It was quite interesting.

Per haps the most notable: Chief Shikellamy. Under his rule; 6 nations lived in peace and harmony here.

Fort Augusta was a stronghold in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, in the upper Susquehanna Valley from the time of the French and Indian War to the close of the American Revolution. The fort was erected by Col. William Clapham in 1756 at a site now within the limits of the city of Sunbury, in an area the Indians called "Shamokin."

came thanks...now i noticed this:

hmmm.

i recall a survey company asking me questions. one question was how clean the C-bay should be. one answer was the same condition as when Washington arrived, I laughed.

My hometown is also hit by quite a few tornados.

"Building damage caused by a moderately strong tornado in the Pilon subdivision of Aylmer, Quebec on Thursday, August 4, 1994 is described. Atmospheric Environment Services classified this tornado as "Force 3" (on a scale of 0 to 5) with winds as high as 270 kmlh. The most severe structural damage observed, however, seems to indicate peak speeds in the 150 to 200 km/h range. There were no deaths and few serious injuries, but insurance claims for housing repair alone were expected to reach $10 million.
