To start I would suggest one that is not too big unless you are already used to having things up there, I would avoid vibes until you are used to having one in there, the vibes might make it too much for you to handle initially.  You want to get one that has a fairly large base to avoid it slipping in.  Use lots of lube.  Your best place to find one and get more assistance is at your local "toy" store.  They have a wide variety, soft, hard, vibe, non-vibe, ribbed and so on .... Start off being a little bit conservative and then build your way up.  Most of all have fun.

Most butt plugs are available in three sizes - too small, about right and way too big.  The middle size can be a bit on the bigger side for a lot of people.  However there is a company called Tantus that makes silicone butt plugs.  They are great.  They are just a little smaller than the standard medium plug and are much softer.  I would recommend them very highly.  Just don't leave it (any plug for that matter) in for too long (more than an hour or two) as the lube will dry up and the plug will stick to you.

Plug and Joy are good for beginners as they arent too hard and come in 3 sizes... they have had good reviews aswell

If you want to wear the plug for any length of time, you'll want one that has a fairly long shaft between the bulbous head and the base. There aren't a lot of those available, and I don't know why. Although this site is not located in the UK, you can see an example of what I'm trying to describe...

As EclipseAbove mentioned, Tantus makes good quality silicone plugs. (The linked item is made by Tantus.) Silicone is a body-friendly material. It is also very easy to clean, does not discolor easily (if at all), and does not retain odors - all important considerations when buying a butt plug. Silicone is more expensive than some other materials, but well worth it.

the medium doc johnson butt plug is a good one for beginners. dont bother with the small one, as it will not stay in place, and it is too small. only good use for the small would be for a sub to overcome the mental barrier of having a plug in their ass. other than that, it will slide right ont once you move your hand away from it. the medium stays in place veyr well. you could have them walk around all day with it in and it would remain in place

Here are some butt plugs that are excellent for long term wear. They may be more expensive, but they stay in and last almost forever.    http://www.mr-s-leather.com/D259.html?id=Q48vwgam

i disagree with the warning about not keepingit in for more than an hour or two.  i  have had them in for up to 8 hours with no ill effects other than a very well worked ass.

What is the best butt plug for begginers? (Someone's finger) and also should i get a vibrating 1 or a normal 1? (depends on whether or not you trust them to wiggle it) where is the best place to buy one from too? any help will be much appreciated thanks

fairdom23 -> RE: Butt Plugs (6/10/2009 7:17:47 PM)

agreed, i have personally had one in for over 10 hours, kept it in a few hours before bed, and overnight, removed before showering in the morning. could have kept it in longer, but more lube would need to be applied, as water based lubes dry up and get absorbed by the body.
if the sub is comfortable with the plug in, there should be no reason to remove it if you want them to continue wearing it

Da-naanaaanaanaaaa....

Ok, it is catchy. :)

As for how to start, you need to ease into it obviously and go at your own or your partners pace untill you/they are compleatly comfortable.  I would wait to movew on to a vibrating one as, in the beginning, the initial feeling of fullness/penetration will be more than enough for most.  Besides, you have to have SOMTHING to look froward to.

Silicon is a great place to start due to its softness, hypoalergenic qualities, and ease of maintenance.  Be warned though, that many (read most) silicon based lubes will damage silicon toys.  Also, be aware that silicon seems to pick up pigmants from other things around it, so be advised that if you store it next to that nifty purple cock ring, there WILL be purple smudges on the plug that will not wash off!

I love to find the perfect toys for people, feel free to contact Me privately...

Smartguyswin -> RE: Butt Plugs (7/14/2009 7:03:14 AM)

at first i'd go with a small latex/silicone one.  I like the feeling of a small butt plug in me while having sex (hetero), but big ones don't feel so pleasant to me as I don't ermm .. take it?, just give it out :p (now anyways, the past was different hehe).

but the best would have to be a small metal one with some weight to it and a bulb at the tip.

i also like the prostate stimulator by aneros, although its hard plastic and not really a butt plug per se. that is something i can wear for a couple hours and relax into a meditation state even, when i'm alone. its supposadly prostate healthy too, and you practice some exercise with it (tantric? not good with names, memory is shot)

I wouldn't recommend jelly toys.

I would actually recommend an inflatable butt plug, easier to go slow with them and less hassle finding the right fit.
