We can no more (as simply men) color all the BDSM villification as belonging to the whole than we can accept that every asshole who claims to be, is Gorean.

Ignore the waspish, or swat them away, but let it lie at that.

I agree with you, however, my question is, what exactly would you like to see done? Inform others about these people? Shun them? monitor them and then turn them in the next time they do such a thing?

Good on ya, Sir! That is the sort of thing I've come to expect seeing in quality men and women, with or without capitalization.

Not to say there is never a time for duking it out in the mud or elsewhere, of course. People of character just seem to do a generally better job of chosing thier battles, imnsho.

I am not the most tolerant person, but people can do as they wish. I am an asshole, I am an insensitive prick, I also believe my way is superior for me. If someone feels they know who they are, and that is where they are comfortable, then great for them. I still reserve my rights to be an asshole, insensitive prick, and comment on them if broght to my area. I do not go into the other sections and insult those in that area because of what they are doing. How many times do any of the Living Gorean posters go into other sections of this forum and insult those there? How many times do non-Goreans come here and be insultive? So exactly who is showing tolerance and respecting boundries?

The BDSM boards themselves arent exactly a petrey dish of open mindness, tolerance, and acceptance when it comes to other people's kinks and lifestyles that fall under that BDSM umbrella.

Surely not me, I am probably the most open to all ideas wether it be Gorean, BDSM, or whatever else you want to call it. In no way was my post directed at YOU. It was a general statement attempting to explain WHY there are assholes in communities.

The BDSM "lifestyle" as they call it, is not something alot of the supposed "BDSM Community" live by. Too many people think spanking their wife on the ass once a month is living a "BDSM Lifestyle" this is the problem with the communities both BDSM and Gorean, too many weekend warriors ruining things for the rest of us.

Notice the words 'Fast reply', which usually means you are not addressing anyone. I was not defending a thing, I was making a statement. When I am defending, I am a ruthless bastard, rather than an asshole, insensitive prick.

Also, I may feel shame on rare occasions but not guilt. Guilty and pity are wasted emotions. Shame and compassion are not wasted emotions.

Living Goreans? They wouldn't bother. Immature rudeniks claiming to be Gorean? Ohyeah. Lots. And from the "other side" perspective, there is no way to tell the difference. Unless you know enough about real Gorean culture to realize that people who are actually living in it simply don't care enough about what BDSM people are doing to waste time picking fights in their forums. But for most BDSM folks, their only exposure to "Goreans" are the trolling kind.

Compared to the General BDSM forum and the Ask A Mistress forum, honestly, your troll incidence is pretty low over here. But trolls are everywhere, and nobody is immune. You can't fairly say that "those trolls" represent the BDSM community any more than it is reasonable to say that the "Gorean Masters" who are misbehaving themselves over on our side represent your community.

[Yup--this is an example of a fast reply, addressed generally]

Periodically we see a wave of people who have decided it's Gorean bashing time. I roll my eyes every time, in particular at the pointlessness of it all (and, as others have noted, plenty of criticism to go around on the BDSM side) given that I'm certainly not at all at war with non-Goreans. Yeah, a few self-proclaimed Goreans like to dance around chat rooms and try to throw around weight, but this is nothing I take seriously, and I wonder why people don't just ignore them (but then, I don't take chat rooms seriously anyway).

But also we continually reread the thoughts people feel are unique and insightful, when they just endlessly repeat what others and we ourselves have said. "Norman's not a great writer." Duh. Point? "How can you live your life according to a set of fiction?" Perhaps you've noticed we're not exactly lock-step over here. Maybe my favorite: "Well, I haven't read the books, but here's my opinion on Gor--" Yeah. Brilliant.

Read Proust. Brilliant writer. Or better yet, just give us your take without bothering to read.

Or perhaps go watch TV.

Yes, the trashing is cyclic, and like rolling a snowball in a sticky snow, one or two auslanders come to Jesus as it were......

Now, Goreans(or the akin in thought) do not fall from heaven or well up from the ground but they come by ones and twos. Many traps are sprung for the hunter, and no quarry is in the trap, and crows and squirrels sit in the trees and scold.

Shoot the bastards if they continously spoil the hunting, but usually by sitting still and ignoring or quickly shushing them they lose interest and slink away.

I am hunting slaves, that is my purpose, and not one of TU QUOQUE........

My perspective, at least.
