deliciousmorsel -> Big black bruises! (10/17/2007 11:06:18 PM)

I had the most glorious treat- being reminded of my place by a very Sadistic Master last weekend. Being unowned, and undated, it's hard to find single Doms here, I really was cranky and needed to be of service.

So I'm in a happy mood, but the bruising is astonishing! My buttocks are still black! And there's purple all over the rest of me...

I've been a competetive athlete- fencing, mountain biking, crosscountry skating, all my life and taken plenty of punishment. I barely bruised getting walloped by a speeding truck on my road bike. I've never bruised like this in other heavy scenes. This is very strange...

Is there something I can do to get all that dead blood moving out of there? I think there's some inflammation and swelling too. This was a hell of a beating, but the Dom is very experienced, takes no prisoners, but doesn't hurt girls. His reputation is stellar, and we were in a club dungeon. And I may be a twisted little masochist but I'll yellow a scene...

Can't exactly ask my doctor. Any thoughts? I iced for 48 hours but that window is past. There may be hematomas in my butt, but the black worries me, one could get seen at the gym or something.

Lizzy

I don't usually want my bruises to go away, so sorry can't help you.  I'm sure one of the more medical types will wander in soon though.

I just tell everyone they're hickeys, then bask in the jealousy.

If they are big and black with some swelling still it ususally implies that there is some deeper tissue bruising.  Its not really something you should worry too much about unless the pain is something of a bother to you.  Deep penetrating bruising can often last for days and sometimes weeks.  Other than using some make-up to hide them there is nothing you can really do except give them time to heal.  If it really does bother you, you can ask the doctor call one of the information lines that have NP (nurse practioners) listen and identify whether the problem is or potentially is something that is serious or life threatening and needs treatment.  Bruising generally requires 10 mins on and 10 mins off alternating with heat, but try calling the information lines .. look them up online or in the phone book.
Good luck

heartfeltsub -> RE: Big black bruises! (10/18/2007 3:15:16 AM)

Try some arnica, i believe that is how it is spelled, it helps bruises heal.

Sinimint -> RE: Big black bruises! (10/18/2007 4:07:10 AM)

Yep Arnica cream is great for healing deep tissue bruising quickly, or even Comfrey cream.

If you're really worried, go see a doctor.

Say you fell while mountain biking or something (it's better than the old 'down the stairs' routine).  Or just be patient...most bruises go away soon enough.

onmykneesb4Him -> RE: Big black bruises! (10/18/2007 5:09:59 AM)

i love my bruises, too. But if you want to get rid of yours, i second (or third?) the Arnica. But i would take the pellets internally.

mistoferin -> RE: Big black bruises! (10/18/2007 6:09:27 AM)

As others have said, Arnica Montana, available at health food stores. I would take the pellets and apply the cream.

i'm a lover of my bruises too.....vitaman e cream helps and so does baby oil from the one time i didn't want them hanging around.....they worked well and took much of the soreness away.

look up kink aware doctors on your browser.  I did when I first started hanging out in the bdsm community. I figured it couldn't hurt to have the info.

apple cider vinegar baths...a cup of it for an average bath tub...more if you have a garden tub or whatever....personally, i always add more than the directions tell me...whether its bubble bath or epsom salts or apple cider vinegar....and i am not sure how it works...but it does....and helps with relaxing the muscles too

From dealing with nasty sports injuries, you can now alternate with hot and cold water. Be sure to careful, use heat first when you are sensitive enough to know of if it's too hot[:@]. Soft tissue massage will help, you could do this yourself. This will get fresh blood to the area and help clear the build up. Arnica is very good.

junecleaver -> RE: Big black bruises! (10/18/2007 10:23:22 AM)

As others have said, try arnica.  I've heard urban legend type of info saying that it's unsafe to ingest arnica.  But I cannot vouch for the validity of that.  I've never tried the cream or the pellets. It seems the more active I am, the faster my bruising disappears. Bruising annoys me because it makes it more difficult to do other stuff.  Not only can you not wear shorter shorts, but it hurts like hell when you have to dive/fall on the area that's bruised.  More than once my Dominant has bitten me along my waistline so that my pants will rub against it all fucking week. Wear a decent pair of compression shorts under your normal workout stuff.  That should hide the bruising.

It is 100% safe to ingest the pellets that are prepared homeopathically. It is never safe to ingest the herb itself.

You have received some good advice for the care of the bruises. But my curiosity was aroused. From what you are saying, this is a great deal more than your usual. Have you been taking any aspirin or anti inflammatories? Any dietary supplements like vitamin E? Having any bleeding of your gums during toothbrushing, or any easy bruising when bumping your shin, etc? Just some things to consider.

A friend of mine makes a wonderful herbal bruise ointment called "Boo Boo Medicine".  It works.

quote:

Test a small amount on small patch of bare skin for sensitivity prior to actual use...careful of sunlight some ingredients may be sun sensitizers on certain individuals.

1 cup fat (Crisco, lard, beef renderings cleaned thrice, whatever...)
1 teaspoon beeswax (don't use other waxes, they don't work very well)
Melt these together gently, be careful to not fry the ingredients.
Remove ointment mixture from heat, allow to cool slightly and add dried herbs:

1/4 cup Comfrey
1/4 cup Hyssop
1 tablespoon St. johnswort
1 tablespoon Pennyroyal
1 teaspoon valerian root
1 pinch benzoin gum (This is a preservative, if you don't use it keep refrigerated...if you do it will stay good almost indefinitely.)

Mash herbs in the warm ointment and let sit until hardened or overnight. Warm mixture until liquid and strain ointment into a container. Tin works well as it adds to the preservation of the ointment.

Increase strength by repeating herbal mash with fresh herbs. I suggest for optimum medicinal purposes, repeat three times.
Addition of mint maybe desirable for smell and as a cooling agent, but do not substitute for other other herbs.

Comfrey and hyssop seem to have a toning affect on muscle tissue, soothes broken skin and reduces inflamation.
St. Johnswort is reputed to have antiseptic properties, and seems to reduce capillary action of inflamed blood vessels.
Pennyroyal is an excellent anticoagulant and seemed to in make a dramatic decrease in the size and depth of bruising.

Valerian is a analgesic, surprisingly effective topically. Addition of valerian tea to bathwater brought almost immediate relief to sore muscles.
