i'm sure theres a whole lot of psychology to why i, as a submissive, like to be in a position thats physically lower than my Dominant...kneeling or sitting at their feet is one of the ways thats very common...but there is a way that i find less common, or less commonly talked about at least, that has multiple purposes for me...and the best way i have been able to communicate this need to Dominants is to ask to be used as a foot rest....where i lay on the floor and they put their feet or boots on my back....(boots hold a personal place in my mind and heart...and i'm not gonna get into that here)

it can range anywhere from the back of my neck to the back of the tops of my thighs...and each zone has a different effect on me....and the zone is about as wide as...a pair of feet or boots...

neck and top of shoulders - submission...i believe this is primarily because if they so chose to step on this place, they could kill me...and it takes a deep trust to let someone do this...and i submit...it is also highly erotic for me...

middle of back and lower back - balancing and centering...this is the area of the second chakra...and from a website that i just looked up..."This chakra often offers us the opportunity to lessen our "control issues" and find a balance in our lives..." lol...i guess someone thought it up before me...

buttocks and backs of upper thighs - sexual....no biggie on this one...i could give lots of reasons...chakras...and relating to pressurepoint zones for endorphin release...besides the obvious, it pushes on the sexual organs...and its just hot...

and on top of all that...this activity can be done without any toys, without any set up, without major preperation....can be done practically any day, its easy on the Dominant...i've heard that its relaxing for the Dominant too...but i am not in their head so i would really like to hear from some Dominants that enjoy this or would enjoy this....and does anyone else do this kind of thing or would like to enjoy this kind of thing? anyone else ever thought about it this much? lol....

All elements of this are a good way for clarity after a long day or other things.  I enjoy the simple things with a submissive and at times it does become highly erotic. 

But more importantly, it's a good way to start a day, or evening,  weekend, session, hanging out, watching a movie or whatever.

Status: offline 		I can generally only take it on my hips/butt.  The rest of my back and shoulders are too weak to maintain that position with weight on it for any extend period.

I tend to prefer spending my time around my owners feet.  Either sitting at his feet or laying down with my arms wrapped around his feet or laying on the floor with his feet on my ass or belly.  Its funny, when he was in a car accident about a year ago, I spent the entire time in the ER with my arms wrapped around his feet, like it was a security blanket.  So I definitely think there's something symbolic and reassuring for me about him using my body as a cushion or rest for his feet.

Status: offline 		chelle.I am not much into a foot rest as I am into foot worship,I prefer a girl down around my feet either massage them or in a soaking foot bath,AS a diabetic my foot care is very important,Daily care and observation is necessary .While she is there she may also do my nails as well....Just for you chelle I have put on my cockern jump boots with double heels now lie..

Status: offline 		Interesting... i love being under my wife, and i've also noticed different feelings based on where her legs are in relation to me, but i've never really studied it to that extent. Of course, i wouldn't know a chakra from a karma, so that could be part of my problem.

A lot of the time, rather than being on the floor, i'm on the couch with her to give her a foot massage, and while just having her feet in my lap doesn't really trigger anything and tends to stay "business-like", sliding down so that her calves are across my chest, and my face is low enough to rub against her feet... i just get lost.

In terms of really being used as a footrest, though... i try to make myself as small as possible (which is still pretty damn big ) by kneeling down, bending over so that my forehead is on the floor, and tucking my arms against my sides... Having my face against the floor is not only an act of subjugation, but also closes me off from the rest of the world visually (usually, she's watching TV in her papasan chair when we do this, and the TV can be a distraction otherwise), and it's tremendously peaceful. Usually her feet or calves are resting on the center of my back, but having them up around my neck or shoulders... very different feeling!

(And yes, that position always puts my legs to sleep... doh)

i am not sure i really understand chakras either....but when i go and look things up...i go...yep, that sounds about right...and i figure, must be fairly true if someone that long ago wrote about something that is true for me today....there are lots of books and websites out there....but i personaly like about.com's explination of each individual chakra, it's written in modern terms that are easy to understand and here's their main page to chakra basics http://healing.about.com/cs/chakras/a/learnchakras.htm and in the center of the page there is links to the pages for the 7 chakras...interesting reading if nothing else...

I agree with RRafe about the skin to skin contact. I can just imagine coming home from a hard days work and proping my feet up and having the rubbed...

Ive never thought about it in as much detail as youposted but have found the information about the chakras quite interesting.  I love using my boy as a foot stool.  And in various ways for various reasons.

I persoanlly love the feel of my bare feet on his back when he is on all fours and I place them just above his bum, I can kick at him if I want to which I also love. I find this way relaxing.

He loves the best when I have my stiletto type boots on and am resting them on him either on his lower back or between his shoulder blades.  Usually he is again on all fours for this and he gets a whack with the crop if he moves   This makes me feel dominate and him feel very submissive

I like to put my feet on him if he is lay on the floor or if he is sat on the settee next to me.  Sometimes if we are in company I'll put my feet on him if he is sat nextto me as a sign between us of our relationship and others dont bat an eyelid. and sometimes just cos im comphy like that.

Status: offline 		Bountyhunter, glad to see you've found a way to incorperate your diabetes checks with your lifestyle. I may need to do something like that with my Mistress. (I'm the one who's Type II) but perhaps she can do a casual inspection while doing some mild sensation play on my feet, as a check for peripheral neropathy.. (yeah! That's it! That's the ticket!)

Being an ottoman is a fun position for a sub, sure. But then, so is just kneeling in "place" on the floor. There's an old saying about butlers and maids: that when they are in the room, it is more empty than before they have entered. I feel that being submissive is often like that. You become part of the room's furnishings, to be used or not, at the Dominant's whim. It's a tough mental state to get into, but I think I do manage it on occasion. More often, it seems my presence is more like that of a pet, which both amuses and inspires affection from my Domme. I guess it's more of a mood thing for them. I just try to adapt.

Status: offline 		Without a doubt one of my favorite things to do, be Her footrest. And given my Mistress' proclivity towards using Her own body as bondage for me, serving as Her footrest often leads to other more interesting activities.

And I second the sentiment that others have posted here, about feeling grounded or centered while being at their Dom/me's feet. It has very much the same sort of effect on me: centering, and feeling secure in my submission to Her.

I also find it funny that sometimes, in other settings, like say a restaurant, sitting on the same level as Her makes me somewhat uncomfortable. It is one reason why, even when we're just lounging around, if She is on the sofa, I prefer being on the floor.

Status: offline 		ok so last night i was sitting with a member of my leather family and someone who responded to this thread at a play party discussing this thread and the member of my house hold - N, brought up something i had no clue about...all the energy lines, in the afore mentioned chakras end in the feet...so, if you believe in the chakras, which i do...when you put your foot or feet on a specific chakra it completes an energy circuit between you and that person's chakra of whatever chakra you are putting it on...not sure if that made sense...so...example...since all of them end in the feet...its like an all access point....so foot on the middle of the back or conversely middle of the stomach...is the grounding/centering/balancing chakra and it completes the energy circuit creating a continuous loop while the foot is still on that chakra...kind of like jump starting a battery...or whatever...i guess....

Status: offline 		Chakras end in the feet - maybe thats why a foot massage is almost an orgasmic experience. 

The times i have been under my doms feet were either as his foot rest or during a punishment (foot on the back of my neck) - it just puts me in a very submissive place mentally.
