What site?

By the way I know of several groups who are into christian DD. Not a clue on real statistics but I'd say probably 50% of the people in the scene are church go'ers. They just are'nt as organized as some.

Oddly enough, during a discussion with my Dominants father about a month ago, before he passed on. He made a statement to one of his online passwords. I'd say the man dabbled in bondage at times. So, many more people have than haven't in my opinion.

I've read that site before, in doing some research for a women's studies project.

I have a problem with domestic discipline, because often (though not always and of course IMHO only) the woman submits -because- she is a woman. This is a problem for me. I believe one should submit out of a desire to submit, which should have -nothing- to do with your gender.

I see women in these situations submitting to their husbands because they are female, and that rubs me the wrong way.

Hello,

Having spent time studying feminist theory and religious history, I have a few comments on Christianity and their attitudes towards
sex.

First off, the sex drive has been viewed with some distaste by most organized religions throughout time. From my understanding, this is due to the fact that this drive cannot be controlled. There is some truth to this idea. Buddhism classified women as demons and sex as a distraction, while at the same time not giving credit to the woman Buddha lived with prior to attaining enlightenment. Sorry, I would suggest that she was an integral building block, and not something which kept him from his experience that led to his enlightenment.

Specifically to Christianity, most of the books in the New Testament are not overly misogynistic. However, we have the Book of Paul, written by an anti-sex, anti-woman apostle, who basically did everything he could to indicate that to truly follow The Lord Jesus Christ (hey, I didnt make up the name...) meant one had to eschew sex. Then you have this transplanted into the Dark Ages where it was melded with the negative reaction to Roman sexual freedom, along with bathing, religious tolerance, and proper sewer systems, as well as a bunch of celibate monks and Popes, and in the modern world we are left with Christian morality saying that sex is a bad thing.

Frankly, I cannot understand why God (I do not really consider myself a Christian, so assuming such exists) would create something as beautiful and life-affirming as sex and endorphin reactions, give human beings free will, and then tell them they should not
experience it. It is like walking up to somebody and telling them not to think of an elephant. Like that will happen. People
are not wired that way. I forget the person I got the quote from, but the quote I am thinking of essentially says "It is amazing that the Gods that people worship generally have the emotional attitudes of a 3 year old."

Peace out,

Sinergy

One other thought,

If there is a God, and this divine being created endorphins and sexual pleasure and all that, I would personally think that said individual would want me to experience it.

So BDSM to your hearts content.

Gee whiz. Who knew when the Southern Baptists voted a few years ago to encourage women to submit to their husbands that this might have been what they really meant.

I agree entirely with perverseangelic. The beauty of submission is that it is an intentional gift. If the submissive party (in this case, the entire female gender) is dogmatically required to do so, and they are told to by their parents, teachers, religious institution, blah blah, then i don’t see how their submission is truly a gift, and not a form of enslavement (in the bad non-consensual sense) and institutional oppression.

<chuckle> and don't forget the Not So Celibate monks and popes.....

Seriously, though, ‘In the Name of True Religion’ arguments seem to often be suspicious. Like Sinergy said, the Gospels are not all too misogynistic. Some might even find parts to support women's rights, and equal human rights for all in general. And there are messages for peace, humility, etc., but there will always (empirically speaking- i hope to be proven wrong) be people who really really believe those same scriptures call them to assassinate certain people, partake certain wars, etc. Similarly, on the one hand, there are some Buddhist scriptures that even extol females as naturally closer to Nirvana than males (i don't remember where), while on the other hand, there have even been “Buddhist Wars”, though thankfully much less than wars in the name of other religions. People just seem to do things, or have the impulses to do so, and then they seek justification of some sort, which can develop into a very upsettingly vicious cycle… imV(ERY)ho...... would welcome correction.

humbly, basia

I think my attitude on mankind, intolerance, and True Believers (along with many other of my attitudes) comes from a line from one of the Douglas Adams Hitchhikers books. The line essentially states:

"Nearly 2000 years after a man was nailed to a tree for telling other people to be nice to each other..."

Really does kinda sum up what many people are all about.

God never said that people should not have sex. God created sex for reproduction...obviously, but it was also for our enjoyment. He said that sex was a wonderful creation and it was beautiful and perfect in the right context. That context is within marriage. A lot of Christians distort this into "sex is bad" when sex is wonderful. Many Christians are responsible for confusing their own religion and therefore confusing people outside of that religion.

I read in a science fiction book once something like this:

"God gave man free will and every day he weeps."

G'day Wolfie,
I've come accross similar sentiments too. The truth is that there is no such thing as free will. Yopu are free to exert you will any way you want, however there is always a price to pay somewhere down the track. Sometimes the price is right sometimes it is not worth the pain and hassles unless it is a matter of honour and then any price is worth it.

As a 'Christian' I can fully understand the statement... no such thing as a 'free will'... in those terms... it does not come free... but as is said - at a price. But exercised with honour... and not fear...

Peace and Love

This is what rubs me the wrong way about many of the "Christian" BDSM groups though I have known one that female dominant.

For me, being Christian and being kinky is about respecting my partner as a person first and foremost and about us doing what makes us happy.

So far, Jesus hasn't told me that I'm doing anything wrong so we must be doing ok in his book.
