A young Reb cavalry trooper on a weekend pass rode into the local town , and headed to the one hotel only to find it booked out. So being a country boy, mounted his horse and road out a tad to the local graveyard, whare he tethered his horse and taking his saddle found a suitable grave stove for a back rest and was soon settled down and fast asleep
…. Three hours pass ….
Our sleepy trooper was awakened by a loud rattling noise. Lifting his kepi from his eyes he spied a skeleton in full Reb cavalry dress walking past. “Hey boy!” the trooper called. “Where y’all goin?” “Well son,” replied the skeleton, “Izzz goin on leave.” Grinning the trooper responded with a wave, “Go for it boy and hoist a few for me.” With that he returned to a deep sleep.
…. Another three hours pass ….
The trooper was again wakened this time with a loud rattling and a THUMP ~ rattle, rattle ~ THUMP ~ rattle, rattle ~ THUMP ~ rattle, rattle ~ THUMP…. Lifting his kepi he spied the same skeleton, but this time he was dragging his tombstone with him. “Hey boy! What in tarnation y’all dragging that thar tombstone for?” “Well,” replied the skeleton,. “Them damned MPs wanted to see my ID card!”
