Not sure about actual damage but it sure does burn.  I suppose if any sort of disease was being carried it could be passed that way but no clue.

I wouldn't recommend regular exposure.  I know it really really hurts for awhile.

i know that you can contract blood borne illness through the mucous membranes in the eyes...thats why surgeons have to wear goggles, not just to keep the blood out of their eyes so they can see...not sure about sperm....

If he was shedding herpes virus from the urethra, one could get a very nasty case of herpes of the eye, which could lead to blindness.

I would think if you let it dry on them it is alot like cataracs, cause I dont think it would dry clear.

But, you could peel it off your eyes and eat it like potato chips....so that may be a saving grace, right there.

Viral Pink Eye
The leading cause of a red eye is virus infection. Viral pink eye symptoms and signs are usually associated with more of a watery discharge, not green or yellow in color, and is frequently associated with viral "cold-like" symptoms. The eyelids may be swollen. Sometimes looking at bright lights is painful. While viral pink eye may not require an antibiotic, those affected should see a doctor, as occasionally this form of pink eye can be associated with infection of the cornea, (the clear portion of the front of the eyeball). This infection must be correctly detected and treated. Viral pink eye is highly contagious. Viral pink eye usually resolves in seven to ten days after symptoms appear.

Bacterial Pink Eye

The bacteria that most commonly cause infectious pink eye are staphylococci, pneumococci, and streptococci. Bacterial pink eye symptoms include:
  • eye pain,
  • swelling,
  • redness, and
  • a moderate to large amount of discharge, usually yellow or greenish in color.

The discharge commonly accumulates after sleeping. Affected children may awaken most unhappy that their "eyes are stuck shut," requiring a warm wash cloth applied to the eyes to remove the discharge and lots of reassurance that their "eyes still work!" This bacterial pink eye responds to repeated warm wash cloths applied to the eyes (try applying these to your child's eye one eye at a time during a favorite video!) and antibiotic eye drops or ointment prescribed by your doctor.

Chlamydia Pink Eye

Pink eye due to infection with Chlamydia is an uncommon form of bacterial pink eye in the U.S., but is very common in Africa and the Middle Eastern countries. It can cause pink eye in adults and neonates. It is a cause of pink eye in adolescents and adults that can be sexually transmitted. Chlamydia pink eye is typically treated with  tetracycline(except in children less than eight years old, because of possible teeth discoloration) or erythromycin.

So, yeah, it's not good for the eyes.

If in fact, the shooter has these diseases, yes; then the wad is septic, otherwise what is a little shot of eye-candy among buddies? And if he is carrying, anywhere you shoot it ain't optimal.

Does sperm harm the eyes?

The sooner you rinse it out with water or a saline flush kit the better. However, I've never seen a case where occular damage occured. In a worse case scenerio, I guess a direct hit from someone who can write there name and dot the i on the wall from ten feet away, could do damage.

The pH of semen is 7.2-7.8.  Thus it is slightly alkaline.  (Some guy's cum will burn more than other's due to the variability) The alkalinity may add to the burning sensation but consider that ordinary water burns when you get it in your eyes.  I'd imagine that if left in for less than a minute it is not likely to damage the eye in any permanent way.  I would not keep it in the eye for much longer... (Of course one should aways ask their medical practitioner for appropriate medical advice--"Oh Doctor...uh, my guy, well, you know, when--well, anyways he uh, likes to put his...uh... ;)

Windchyme's comment about herpes is an interesting point and the reason why people should never kiss children's eyes.  Oral herpes is endemic (meaning most people have it) virtually all of us contract the virus as children.  Kissing babies is a common thing--if the virus' point of origin is in the eye, then if the child develops a herpes sore, it is a serious problem.  Though--if your partner has been with you for longer than a few months (a guess) you will have already been exposed and infected, but if you have it (most of us do since childhood--though many of us do not present with sore break-outs) then semen, if it contains herpes virii is less likely to create an eye infection because the infected body has antibodies to prevent it.

As OsideGirl pointed out--there are infections that can be transferred.  As for pink-eye, if your guy has pink eyes--put the cum elsewhere.

But 'ya know.... if it doesn't go in the eyes, usually it goes up some other orifice... and that brings the same risk.... (except for herpes of the eye).

It's an interesting and not uncommon fetish...

I don't want to imagine what the chip dip is made from.

Not recommended for anyone who has had eye surgery however.

You know folks, this thread may put me off on potato chips for a long time.
