Status: offline 		Leather boots, in particular New Rock boots,has anyone any suggestions for breaking them in???

Getting fed up with blisters and chafes!!!

Thick socks, even two pairs.  But if they are causing you huge problems, they are probably the wrong size/fitting.
New rocks are wide, and if your feet are narrow, that is going to cause problems.

Status: offline 		Well if you already own them sounds like youre stuck with them. So figure out where they hurt. If theyre big you could add inserts. if theyre stiff, bandaids on the spots and once upon a time, I used to break in leather boots by saddle soaping them and loosing them up that way.

Yes I know about that one, uric acid is good for softening leather, but I don't think I could handle the smell, am trying rubbing alcohol and water at the moment.

Status: offline 		insert crumpled newspaper into them packed- turn upside down. have them near hot water steam. work it with your hands.

Status: offline 		i've heard that if you apply Huberd's boot grease on the inside of your boots on the spots where it needs to loosen up - mainly where it bends, around the toe line and ankle, and then wear them that it helps quicken the process....

Status: offline 		Make sure your feet are nice and soft, a pedicure may be a tad over the top, but foot spa and some nice foot lotion. Soft feet hurt less!
You can buy something which looks like thick skin that you can stick on the spots where you get the chafing. I think the brand is "Compeed", or something like it, and I think you pick it up at Boots. Use those and then take the boots out for walks, a bit longer each day.

To stretch your shoe: "Put some rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab (don't soak it -- just a bit because it dries very quickly). Rub the interior of the shoe where you want to stretch it and then put your foot into the shoe. If you want a little bit of stretching, use your bare foot or wear stockings, and if you want a lot of stretching I suggest you wear a little sock because that's going to give it even more expansion. Wear them for 15 minutes and you will be amazed at how good it works." If you're traveling and don't have any rubbing alcohol handy, Gretta says an ordinary hair dryer can help stretch your shoes. "If you warm up the leather, you're going to expand it and open it up a bit without ruining it." (Rachel Ray Show "Gretta's Tips")
