ORIGINAL: Phoenix2raven So just after I decided to have surgery on my back I end up having a blood clot (pulmonary embolism) in my right lung. The doctors say I will be on blood thinners for a minimum of one year. That will prevent me from having another embolism but it also makes it almost impossible to have any kind of surgery. They are not going to take me off of it even though I'm in pain 24/7. This is putting a strain on my relationship I'm sure you can relate. With out going into great detail about why the doctors aren't being cooperative is there anyone who knows what can be said to the doctors so they can at least give me some physical therapy or maybe a tens unit or something non narcotic for this pain. Thanks, Phoenix after my hip op i also had a thrombosis back in January 2007, it was a small one in my calf and was on the warfarin for 6 months, in september i had my next hip done, whilest i was on the warfarine i was able to take my normal pain killers co- codamol 30/500, 2 tablets, 3 times a day, after the second op to prevent another thrombosis they put me on a daily dose of tinzaparin injections (4,500 anti Factor Xa IU in 0.45ml unit dose syringe, is what is written on the package) for a month, i have 10 more injections to have and counting LOL i still am able to take the pain meds im prescribed. im in the UK so might be different over in the States. all the best and good luck cheeky
