 Dove soap for sensitive skin has done wonders for most of my life I dont think at 32 I will be getting an itch any time soon.....*smiles* I dont use anything else but that and probably never will **of course when I said soap I wasnt calling all the women to rush out and grab a bar of Zest for their delicate area*
*MissMagnolia* No need to be amazed  but it would be silly for me not to have intimate knowledge of something I have had 32yrs..Dove works for me and I was simply offering advice because many women do not know about keeping there bits clean...I am sure I am not the only female that does not have an issue using a mild soap down there.....and if someone did the products you suggested would be a good start

MissMagnolia -> RE: Personal Hygiene (11/2/2007 1:53:13 AM)

Well lucky old you. I'm amazed that you didn't specify that with all your experience in the medical field and intimate knowledge of vagina's.

I worked in gynaecological surgery, and we were very clear about telling women not to use soap. But what would I know?[8|]

PsychoticWolf -> RE: Personal Hygiene (11/2/2007 2:03:30 AM)

I have come across some females who are not hygienic and was really dissapointed when trying to work it out. Not all hygiene is based off of if they shower or not, their's quite a long list of ways that could turn a person off in an instant if they weren't even trying.

chellekitty -> RE: Personal Hygiene (11/2/2007 10:41:41 PM)

soap is an interesting adventure for me...i have to find soap without aloe in it because i am allergic to aloe...you wouldn't think this would be such a challenge until you start looking at all the ingredients in everything...and most soaps for delicate skin and sensative skin boast that they have aloe in them....it's not a deathly allergic reaction but it is a painful skin irriation...(if i put aloe vera gel on a light sun burn, it will blister...thats not fun at all, this is how i figured out what was causing the problem)...

so, 99% of the time, i don't use anything but whatever i am using to help shave the hair off (which is a problem in and of itself, but i am not shaving unlubricated and most salon waxing processes have aloe somewhere in them, i haven't pin pointed it yet though, and the rest of the hair removal options just don't work or are too expensive) i don't use anything besides water to wash my pussy....and i have never had one complaint...actually, had quite a few compliments that i thought were due to brain damage, but thats just me.... [:D]

Keep using soap down there and you may well have a vile itch and infection very soon mya. I've been in the medical field too, and it's best to use something very mild like vaginal wash or even sorbelene lotion or cream. Sorbelene is also good for those who suffer skin irritations elsewhere on the body. Barring infections, basic hygiene is easy.
.

I wondered if that vaginal wash was worth the price. I might consider buying it.

Troutie -> RE: Personal Hygiene (11/10/2007 1:56:51 PM)

I was told that vaginal wash and soap are dreadful for those of us prone to infections.  I'd like to know where I can find Sorbolene.  I looked online and all the sites that came up were in Australia.

I'm probably one of the rare men who doesn't have a foreskin-and was not circumcised. And I bathe regularly. One of my biggest pet peeves is with women

Must... continue... to... resist... overwhelming urge to ask/cajole/beg RRafe for a picture of above-mentioned rarity.

I use regular soap and water, I have never had anyone in the medical profession tell me to use anything else. Of course I wash the folds, and actually I shave myself daily as well. I have had maybe a handful of infections in my life, and two of those were due to "honeymoonitus" because I was unused to being sexually active after a long time of not being so.

Perhaps all the different doctors I have been to since the age of 17 were all quacks, including the award winning OBGYN that cared for me during my pregnancy?

camille65 -> RE: Personal Hygiene (11/11/2007 5:24:07 AM)

Soap is a definite no-no for me, I end up itchy and irritated no matter what kind I try.Water and a washcloth has taken care of me for 40+ years and I've yet to hear a complaint!

KatyLied -> RE: Personal Hygiene (11/11/2007 5:28:11 AM)

Some people are sensitive to fragrances in soap, it's that simple.
I use Dove unscented.

camille65 -> RE: Personal Hygiene (11/11/2007 5:29:58 AM)

It may sound goofy but sometimes I use Arm n Hammer baking soda, I make a paste out of it and use that to wash all over. It kinda exfoliates along the way which is a nice bonus.[:D]

LaTigresse -> RE: Personal Hygiene (11/11/2007 5:53:48 AM)

using fast reply........

I have never had a yeast infection so I cannot relate to those that have. Sounds very uncomfortable though. Perhaps it is because I do eat alot of yogurt and avoid antibiotics like the plague.

It never ceases to amaze me that there are grown adults that can read and write that might have to be told to wash themselves. Poor personal hygiene is one of my biggest pet peeves EVER. Dental hygiene especially. Brush the fuckers! I cannot stand being around stinky people! Wanna make me gag, try getting close to me smelling like beer and cigarettes, or stale BO.

All of that being said, I am also sensitive to alot of perfumes and colognes. Don't even get a pussy close to me that smells of flowers or whatever....yeck.

I love the scent of clean, healthy, woman. No need to cover it up. Just emphasize CLEAN and HEALTHY.

MistressPav -> RE: Personal Hygiene (11/14/2007 2:59:33 PM)

Yeast infections are NOT caused by bad hygiene.  One needs to be clean even when ill.  If you have one, you may want to refrain from play until it's cleared up because the pH change in the vagina may cause irritation to the man's penis.
Some tips to prevent yeast infections:

If you must douche, do so with warm saline water or water/vinegar solution and don't douche more than once a week.
Be careful when taking antibiotics as they kill EVERYTHING even the good vaginal bacteria that is NEEDED to keep things in good working order.
Eat yogurt with 'active cultures'.

This has been a great thread, making me in turns, gooey, nauseous, giggly, and puzzled. i have a 'thingy' for taking a Man home from work -- office or not -- and caring for His grooming until He is wrapped in a warmed towel.  Maybe this is a secret wish to be sure His bits have been washed, lmao.

DrkJourney -> RE: Personal Hygiene (11/14/2007 4:36:13 PM)

The one and only time I had a yeast infection is when I was dating this one guy a few years ago.  Something about the chemistry between our bodies, or so the doctor said.   I took the medicines and ate the yogurt...but the best solution was when I just got rid of the guy, felt better in more ways than one.....LOL

ravennfyre -> RE: Personal Hygiene (11/14/2007 4:52:28 PM)

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but can't both women AND men pass an infection back and forth? If so, shouldn't both be treated? I'm asking only because I've been fortunate enough to have never had one of these!

thank you!

fyre

sexyred1 -> RE: Personal Hygiene (11/14/2007 5:05:00 PM)

Honestly, I cannot believe adults need a thread like this, ugh.

I also am obsessed with personal hygiene, and dental hygiene. I also used Dove unscented and never had one problem. I would NEVER show up for a date or anything intimate without being perfect and fresh. In fact, I have had people say, I was too clean, if that is even possible. (meaning, don't rush out the room so fast, to clean up?)

If I detect anything upleasant about a man, I will say so.

I will say this, however: a few times, I have encountered a man who was good looking and who had just taken a shower. But, no matter what, I just did not like his essential smell. It is the pheromones; he was so pissed off because there was nothing he could do about it, but it is part of chemistry.

And please people, if you have any pride at all, take care of those teeth; it really matters.

P.S. As a natural redhead, I have been told since time began that we taste better than other girls, LOL. Whether or not this is true, it was nice to hear. I don't think it counts if you dye your hair red!!

P.S.S. I also believe that if you shave it all off, that is the best way, just IMO.

SageFemmexx -> RE: Personal Hygiene (11/14/2007 5:15:50 PM)

A point I want is make is that repeated yeast infections can be someone's first sign of diabetes. Get your blood sugar checked.

Another I wanted to make was that the first thing I look at is teeth and the second is nails. Either area is dirty and I assume lower hygiene isn't practiced either. I'll never forget the wedding I went to in which I danced with the groom with orange teeth. I kept thinking, why didn't he bother to brush for his freaking nuptials??

I've also noticed that some people are oblivious to the stench of their armpits--both male and female. If someone points out to them that they stink, they think you're joking. We're not. Use Deodorant often.

Also regular dental care is a must. Get your teeth cleaned and scaled, it makes a difference to your health--studies are showing the bacteria in your mouth migrates to your heart and elsewhere. Prevent gum disease and get your teeth fixed not pulled. Be one of the few ancient people that has all their teeth and practiced good health--it's a good thing!
