What would you do if you knew someone who was, by witholding information,  putting their partner(s) at risk?

I'm finding it impossible to answer your question, there just isn't enough information. Why is the information being withheld and do you positively know your right? Risk of what?

Follow my gut instinct. Trust myself, and accept the consequences of any actions I do or do not take.

If we're talking real risk, then I'd obviously tell the party at risk.  What else can you do?

Shawn,
You are correct. That is the best way to handle it. Thanks.

Not to be rude, but did you really need to ask this?

With such limited knowledge, I would not say to go to the person 'at risk'. I would go to the person putting the other at risk and discuss it with them.

It could be a lie and you would then be causing a lot of problems.
The risker could be planning to tell the riskee at a certain time.
They may be having safe or no sex.

Unless you KNOW absolutely and solidly that the risker has no intention of telling the riskee why would you step into it?

Go to the person that has the 'problem' which could range from a yeast infection, to a cold, or to HIV.

Jen, it's always difficult to have information that might/might not harm someone. For example, a wife who has a cheating husband gets angry if a friend tells her about it. If the wife finds out the husband is cheating for herself, she then gets angry that no one told her.

Sometimes you just can't win, but if it's a real health risk, yes, I'd say something. You risk the friendship, but if you really care, it's worth speaking up to save your friend.

If you see someone get beat (not out wonderfull way) wouldnt you call the cops. Come on where is your moral compas?????? Would you like me to drive by as someone was mugging you and have to get on the computer to ask what should I do then drive back to see if you are still in the process of getting mugged so I can call the cops or should I just call the ambulance.

The OP is vague. There is no way to tell if there is 'danger' or not.
Taking your example "What is so hard about that. If you see someone get beat (not out wonderfull way) wouldnt you call the cops".
If my neighbor hears me hollering because I'm getting cropped by my dom she will call the cops. However I wouldn't be in distress, only in my neighbors view would it be distress.

That is why I say go to the person and talk to them. Basic communication. "Are you putting X at risk because of Y, or do you plan to talk to X about Y because if you don't then I will"

For all we know 'Y' could be a canker sore or yeast infection.
Or it could be HIV.

Exactly what kind of risk?

At risk of losing their life savings? Their life? At risk of losing a friend? At risk of being late to work because their car won't start and getting fired but you don't know that she actually wants to get fired and he's trying to help because it's none of your fucking business?

It really matters.

If it really is a hypothetical situation, who died and made you Queen of Morality? I still want details about what hypothical situation we are talking about.
