Let's list what they "have" .....
- They have your login and password
- They have your description of yourself & perhaps a photograph
- They have your IP address (hence, they can get your real identity)
- They have all your conversations, and with whom you converse

What else do they have on you?

kittensmailbox -> RE: how long does collarme keep records? (10/26/2007 6:18:44 AM)

unless of course if you lie about your info...

They have the IP address of the collocation, doesn't mean they have the house wire, they cannot trace past the hose at the isp....and that hose address is random in any case per instance. That is one way the Jessykas of the world get to go off here.

Sanity -> RE: how long does collarme keep records? (10/26/2007 7:12:28 AM)

You might be surprised what you might find on certain search engines about yourself and people you know, given the right search terms... this little world of ours is getting very cozy!!!

If you found all this through Google, you should be asking how long Google keeps their records--not Collarme.

Answer: indefinitely.  Google keeps everything.

Anyway, Google finds things you write in the Collarme forums through its web-crawler, so basically as long as something is kept in the forums, Google will always be able to find it.  As far as I can tell, nothing is ever deleted from the forums simply because of its date.  You can find threads going back to the beginning of Collarme.

Which means what exactly to you?  That you are lying about your IP address so they can't go to your internet provider and they won't out you?
You cannot lie about your IP address.  Sure, you can say you are a female and really be a man or vice versa.  You can say you have some name other than what you do.  You can keep up that persona as long as you want.
Then allow most anyone to be interested in you in the least and they know all of your lies and exactly who you are.

seeksfemslave -> RE: how long does collarme keep records? (10/26/2007 7:23:39 AM)

It seems to me there is a limit on how far back posts at least can be displayed. Is this true ?
Whether they are kept right back to the first post I do not know

sub4hire -> RE: how long does collarme keep records? (10/26/2007 7:25:54 AM)

Collarme keeps active threads for up to one year here on the boards.  If there has been no activity on any thread it does get deleted from our view.  That does not mean they haven't backed up their servers and kept every single thread that has ever transpired.  I highly doubt the mods are going to tell us the truth..or if they even know.

I have googled threads in the past.  Yes, google does save them.  So, even if you can't find a thread by searching here odds are you can find it on google.

This is not the case.  If it was, we wouldn't have people dredging up threads from 2004 and 2005 with such regularity.

Raechard -> RE: how long does collarme keep records? (10/26/2007 3:12:16 PM)

The thing about the IP number giving your real address is actually possible through confidence trick scams. For example you speak with someone at the ISP that hosts the address demanding that they give you this information because you are a law enforcement officer and you have this court order etc. etc. Obviously someone with seniority at the ISP isn’t going to fall for this trick but you’d be surprised how few people with seniority deal with people outside an organisation. When your boss is away playing golf and someone is threatening to come to your organisation and remove equipment to search for records some snivelling idiots just buckle under the kind of pressure and give away IP usage records. By law even if your IP is assigned dynamically the ISP will keep a record of which IP was in use by which client at which time. In the EU communications records have to be kept for two years I think it is. Even Google is bound by law to keep a record of your searches and the IP addresses used to conduct searches. After a certain period of time Google strips the user identifiable information but retains the other information for analysis.
