grlneedstolearn -> Cleaning vibrators (10/26/2007 5:59:34 PM)

Today i have noticed some blood on the inside of the vibe near the head. The vibe is not cracked or anything, and i was trying to figure out how it got there and what i can do to clean it. It is also a battery operated vibrator. i was thinking of taking like a QTip, swabbing it with alcohol or something and cleaning it, but i'm not sure if that would totally clean and disenfect it. Any suggestions would be helpful.
  Thank you

10% bleach 90% water solution will disenfect just about any nonporus surface. If using on the outside of the vibe make sure you rise it off afterwords. I use condoms on my toys if sharing with those I am not fluid bonded with. Otherwise I just use antibacterial foaming soap ( I have a bottle of the stuff at all the sinks in my house ) to clean all of my non leather toys. Leather toys get saddle soap and mink oil. ( just like you would a saddle)

Condoms are just so much safer.. and I dont want to contaminate my toys... or pass anything back and forth.

With strap ons I buy the vac-u-loc system harnesses.. and they can bring thier own dilldo. ( best way to have it at home and practice with it I have found for my boy...) Only he has ever used that one dilldo.. and no worries about contamination. It gets cleaned at my place, put back in it's zip loc.. and taken back home with him. ~ it is how we have done it for years. My girl has her fave that she has in her own little zip loc baggie as well.

In fact all of our toys once cleaned and dryed go directly back into thier zip locs, and put back into the toy chest. ( no dust, hair, pet hair, or contamination that way... and you can grab lube and just start playing right away).. no trip to go rise anything off  "just in case" or to "get lint off"

Thank you, and what if it's on the inside of the vibe near the head?

NightWindWhisper -> RE: Cleaning vibrators (10/27/2007 5:27:02 PM)

Then there is a break there that has allowed the blood to seep inside.  Soaking it in 1 part ordinary bleach to nine parts water for half an hour probably will get in there.  If it does the blood should turn a darker brown.  In reality though, to be sure, throw it out and don't buy glued together vibrators, and, as suggested use a condom.  It's clearly contaminated and cannot be taken apart to be properly disinfected.

When I had a dishwasher I simply put them and anal plugs in there w/o dishes of course. Now I simply wash them with soap and water, dip in a mop bucket with hot water and 1/4 cup of bleach, then rinse in hot water. Allowing them to air dry.

Blessed Be,

Thank you Phoenixand nika, i will try that idea today :)

if it is a battery operated one.. soaking or dishwasher will not work.. it will short it out.. time for a new toy.. then make sure you use condoms.

Condoms are always the safest route.

I was taught that hot water will degrade bleach if you are using the combination for disinfectant purposes.  That's what is taught to those who do food handling on military bases.

Edited to add.....we were told to use cold water and bleach for disinfecting.

I would just take it and give it one good "knock" on the wall....The majority of the hairs, blood and poo will be dislodged...The remaining remnants are there for "her pleasure."

Thank you domiguy, will try that next time

Hot water, hand soap or dish soap is what I normally use. If there is something that truely concernes me, I'll pull out some Hibiclens soap that can be found in most medical supply stores. Here is a link if you care to order it. With a google search, you can go to all the online stores and see who sells Hibiclens for the lowest price. It's good stuff.

There are cleansing whipes you can get, soapy water as many have suggested can lead to the workings rusting and stuff (if you have the platnum you can see them getting grosser) Best thing i can recomend is to buy a new one. I regularly change mine as they can wear out very easy.

Thank you FangsNfeet for the link. And thank you colouredin for more adivce.

Buying new ones time after time can get a little expensive. When a vibrator wears out, I first take it down to a repair shop and getting the motor fixed or replaced. If you can't see yourself going to a repair shop, then buy a few. Rather than use the same one over and over, switch them out on a rotation system. They'll all last longer that way.

Well i dont think £30 every few months is much of an expense esp for something i use so frequently.

grlneedstolearn -> RE: Cleaning vibrators (10/31/2007 9:12:41 PM)

Naw it's not the motor, thank goodness, just the "maintaince cleaning of one" is how i'd put it in better words

Yes. I am for it.

Definitely "pro" for cleaning vibrators. It should be done, is all I'm saying.
