Status: offline 		this made me laugh on yesterday's news!

the king of Saudi Arabia (and several plane loads of entourage) is visiting the UK this week.

Guess what the Guards' band played? The Imperial March, from Star Wars!

Now, this guy is 82, dressed in robes (like any well outfitted Sith Lord) and rules a country as absolute dictator which dislikes us and breaches human rights on an hourly basis.

Diplomatic incident, anyone?

(though nothing yet - boo!)

We haven't got many left.

If we could sell them some tanks and armoured vehicles as well so much the better.
I believe some Saudi army officer class cadets train in the UK.
Nice little earner that is too.

You know? I dont work that way - which is why I'm only doing OK rather than very wealthy indeed by now. Those pesky old ethics eh? I'll never get anywhere in life, me.

Status: offline 		A high level state visit? Buying fighter jets? And just about the only countries that can pose a threat are Iran and Egypt... Why do I suspect that Iran will be the next victim of the American and allied onslaught on the muslims - fairly soon after those jets have been delivered?

Nodody is afraid of the Saudi Air Force.  In fact, no serious military person is afraid of Arab militaries.  The British got them to fight well once but that may have been a fluke.  Some people fear alien UFOs, some people fear the government is listening into their brain, and some nutjobs fear arabs.

The Saudi's are buying influence and since they are rolling in western money, they got to do something with it.  I bet the UK sure as hell won't let them pay in useless US dollars, that's for sure.

Status: offline 		SimplyMicheal...... I bet the UK do let them pay in dollars. We need dollars to buy oil, so as i see it the deal will either be paid in dollars, or in oil itself. This is part of a £40 billion deal. If thats an English billion its £40,000,000,000 000. Its an ongoing deal first signed by Thatcher < who did away with manufacturing  :) >  back in the 80s and has already yielded £43 billion in trade. The next step is the establishment of a Saudi Aero industry.
