I live in the middle of "good ole boy" country and I don't see guys like this anymore. I see a bunch of spoiled brats that were given too much and not made to work for it. ( second and third generation farm kids) The only difference is, our version is more narrow minded and drinks crappier beer.

Most of these same guys still live at home in their 20's and 30's with their momma's doing all their laundry, cooking and cleaning. They wouldn't know how to take care of themselves if they tried. They are all looking for doormats like their mommas, the problem is, they don't want to leave their momma to find her.

99 times out of a hundred I could not agree with you less! However this time I have to say you've actually hit the nail on the head! Bravo!

RaynaSub -> RE: What a woman wants (10/31/2007 11:24:20 PM)

From that list? Brad Pitt, hands down.

Mellissande -> RE: What a woman wants (10/31/2007 11:31:36 PM)

being a country girl myself, I am probably a bit biased on this point, but you know just because he's fat smelly and not the redneck I'd like to date doesn't mean that all rednecks are like that... and there's nothing wrong with a little extra weight. I love to cook so I want a man who loves to eat... Likes my kinda music and would rather go mudding on a saturday night than theatre... Between Brad Pitt and Larry The Cable Guy, I'd take the redneck anyday

mya75 -> RE: What a woman wants (10/31/2007 11:40:35 PM)

Well Hmm I cant choose one of your choices because Im not attracted to any of them..but I get the point of the topic....Could be possibly your "friend: whom you speak so highly of *giggles*  is only scoring underage girls who's parents havent told them to keep their legs closed....and therefore both he and she are quite desperate....but I prefer a working guy someone a little rugged definately dont like pretty boys...or men who dont at least have common sense.....

Lashra -> RE: What a woman wants (11/1/2007 4:12:31 AM)

It depends upon the woman, we all do not like the exact same things. Personally, I want a man who is intelligent, sensitive, has a great sense of humor and is submissive.[:D] I am attracted to the tall, blue eyed males for a physical reference. These other ladies who want fat, dumb, hicks...well that is their choice but it certainly is not mine.

I live in the city and I see this as well. Its rather sad in a way because these guys will grow up having no clue how to take care of themselves nor how to treat anyone with respect. It seems they feel that they are little "Princes" who deserve to have their asses kissed by everyone. Most learn at an early age that a woman was made to wait on them hand and foot and if she doesn't, a swift back hand is their preferred method of communication. Can you blame the child, not in every case? Nope look to the parents....

BBWnNC72 -> RE: What a woman wants (11/1/2007 4:53:44 AM)

From that list, have to go with Foxworthy, nice looking and has humor.  love a guy with humor.  [:D]

MistressPurpleFL -> RE: What a woman wants (11/1/2007 5:06:22 AM)

I have dated many men vanilla and otherwise; I want an INTELLIGENT man with a sense of humor.  I can change my own tires, cook and clean but I love a man who can also do these tasks.  At the end of the day I want a man who can keep his thing in his pants and not chase everything and anything in the streets and then come home and give me GIFTS; thank goodness that has not happened (knocking on wood).

I am attracted to many types of men whether it be physical or mental attributes so it really depends on who is infront of me.  If a man is Intelligent but is not a Tom Cruise that is fine, but if he is a Tom Cruise type but can not complete a comprehensive sentence he can keep on walking.

PS> Got me thinking, what's with all the straight guys who think they are the best thing since sliced bread! BTW, this guy has no problem with straight people, as many of my friends are straight.

You rock Bear!  I miss you fuzzy man!

I was thinking the same thing.. In a few years, when he has a bit more wisdom and maturity under his belt, Joanus will be a tourist attraction unto himself in his little town...grrrrr.....

As for myself, looks truly mean little to me.  I agree completely with Mistress Purple's statement regarding intelligence over looks.  A gorgeous guy who is a jerk becomes unattractive to me fairly quickly.  An average looking man with charm, wit and intelligence will win with me every time...

Deboyce -> RE: What a woman wants (11/1/2007 6:26:49 AM)

GhitaAmati: You do not have to look that hard, country boys especially those from the more western states are climbing their own ladders of success, independent strong and forthright, but they retain the graciousness politeness and courtesy of country indoctrined conducts behaviors and mannerisms and in most cases to a fault. This generalizing and bashing of country boys amounts to nothing more then selective shallow self serving opinions.

Celeste43 -> RE: What a woman wants (11/1/2007 8:30:45 AM)

The reason he's getting girls and you aren't is that he has confidence and you don't. You whine about cleaning puke out of your car, but you don't have the confidence to tell people that if they're drunk or behave inappropriately they aren't going to be riding in your car.

Confidence is the difference.

And yeah, there's something about a man who can do car repairs and home repairs that sends me. Most of what goes wrong in life are small things, washing machine backs up, flat tire, garage door opener. But it's time consuming to call a repair person, wait till they can fit you in and rearrange your schedule for theirs.

Being with a man who can diagnose the problem, find the repair parts at the hardware store, and then spend two hours the same night fixing it, just makes life go a lot easier. I feel more protected knowing that whatever goes wrong, it goes less wrong and for less time because of his knowledge and abilities. Even when it's something he can't fix, alignment on the car, he can discuss it with the mechanic and get more respect because he goes in telling them what's wrong whereas I do that "it makes a funny noise" stuff that they know adds four hours diagnosing the problem, four hours I have to pay for.

~Fast Reply~

While I don't have much interest in the two listed, country and mountain men all the way. Rodeos, mud-bogging and work trucks that actually work. [:)]

chellekitty -> RE: What a woman wants (11/1/2007 11:25:30 AM)

i picked brad pitt out of that list...larry the cable guy would be gutted and strung up within a week....and so would tom cruise...damned couch jumping force his beliefs down other people's throats scientologist....jeff foxworthy is ok...but brad pitt would be better...i want to travel the world...

now if only you had put Vin Diesel or Christian Bale on the list....

Celeste43 -> RE: What a woman wants (11/1/2007 7:47:27 PM)

My apologies for misunderstanding however by linking that in with your rant about your friend, I was understandably under the impression that it was this friend and others like him.

HotFaerieMama -> RE: What a woman wants (11/2/2007 12:58:28 AM)

i picked larry the cable guy. why? because i was raised in the south by a country boy. dad grew up on his grandparents farm ( sadly they were dirt poor) and he can fix just about anything and he's been doing dry wall ( damm mud slinger that he is) for over 30 years. he's taught me that i don't need alot to be happy and that all i need is a " good ole boy" ( haven't found one yet) i love southern men. always have.. all my friends have wonderful manners and if i can't fix something then they do ( almost all my friends are guys) and don't dare say something about me or my um. you'll get a mudhole stomped in your ass... alrighty i'm done rambling.. ( yes i have southern pride.)

Sunao -> RE: What a woman wants (11/2/2007 2:03:10 AM)

I live in a small town and its hard not to find someone related to me in one form or another.  Lot of cute women around here I just have to question the family tree first XD.  Small southern towns are more like clans then towns. But the bashing of southern people is wrong and just makes the north seem as bad as the south. I've noticed though that if you goto Ohio and Illinoise and say that your from Texas automaticually women will hit on you. I find it kinda odd.

GothicSexKitty69 -> RE: What a woman wants (11/2/2007 3:08:22 AM)

A guy that is fun in bed- is often a terrible LTR.  No commen ground other then bed fun

NUTS to that, pardon the pun.  This line is bullshit.  I consider keeping my girl panting a major long-term-relationship skill.  aside from the basics of food, sex, sleep, chores, places, and toys, I almost never have common ground with a girl--how many girls do YOU know that have 'particle collision physics' as a hobby?  Or emergent systems behavior?  Who can tell Pythagoras from Archimedes?  Or can sit and listen to you explore male player seduction techniques without getting slightly green around the gills?  Or chess, or advanced poker statistics, or web design/internet application design.... it takes a lot of effing effort to make those subjects poetic enough to draw female attention.  But you keep her hot enough without giving away the farm, and she'll find reasons to be interested in anything you tell her to be interested in.  I know for damned sure that if she isn't keeping me happy when I'm in the mood, she's in for a world of hurt... so I make sure that she's always wanting more.  Less of a struggle that way, and it makes the days pass a lot more smoothly.  Dude, being a good fuck is THE relationship skill.  That, plus being able to keep the hassle of household chores, work schedules, and such to a minimum or find ways to make the boring day to day activities bonding and fun.  But that's only a close second to good sex, IMHO.

DMFParadox -> RE: What a woman wants (11/2/2007 3:55:59 AM)

You missed 'Russel Crowe' or that librarian guy from Buffy, I'll settle for him.  He's close enough to my archetype.  None of those guys represent anything close to me.  Brad Pitt is closest; Cruise is a tool.  Forget that Xeno-fearing fool.  The problem with Pitt though is that he's been somewhat whipped by Angelina, and she's starting to shimmy around the edges because of it... he needs to man up a bit.  IMO, but meh; grain of salt.  Either way, you missed the brainy crowd.  These guys are clever, but none of them are nobel prizewinners.  Crowe, though, that monster is smart.  And equal helpings of good and evil.  (Ever seen Romper Stomper?  Yeah, the dude's got evil in him.)  If I had a man-crush, Crowe would be it.
