I hit a deer once on our road and the guy that stopped to help me said he had had one go through his windshield. The top of our driveway is a deer crossing and no one pays attention to the sign there. We have at least three deer hit there every year. I remember a few years ago a fawn was hit and the doe came back three days in a row and just stood there for hours, broke my heart. [:o]

Living in Indiana, I've hit a deer three times. Or, I should say, they hit me. There's not much you can do if they come quickly out of nowhere. The first time I'd only had my license for two months. I was on the way to a fall dance at my highschool. It ate my car for breakfast, then got up and ran away. No joke. The second time nothing major happened to my car and Bambi survived. The third was pretty weird. It was in the middle of campus at Purdue. No joke. Deer in the middle of the main road on campus. It survived, and only left my car a little dinged up. So I guess the moral of the story is, if you are named Bambi stay the hell away from me. I will unintentionally run you over. [;)]

Oh yeah! And then there was this other time....I was out driving with a few friends and apparently my friend in the passenger seat saw a deer. He's a little screwed up in the head, so he opened the F***ing door and hit the deer. No joke. It was fine. I wasn't driving fast. Did a hell of a number on my door though. I quit talking to him shortly thereafter.

I remember seeing the series of pics that came from and the news story behind it. The Dakota was driving along on I-35 minding it's own business when the deer jumped off of the overpass. Seems the deer had been spooked and run onto the overpass and then dove over the side the just the right time. Driver escaped with only cuts, bruises and I think a broken arm. The deer on the other hand, well, let's just say that what you're seeing is the 'better' side of the deer.
