Probably because you feel that you could rescue him or help him, but you can't, so let go. He has to help himself. If losing a submissive isn't enough to motivate him into getting treatment, nothing you can do will motivate him either. You can't push a rope. You can't push toothpaste back into the tube. And you can't help someone until they want the help.

I would suggest that you have survivor's guilt... IMO what you should be feeling guilty about is not asking the d/d free question earlier and protecting yourself.
