pinksugarsub -> Great American Smoke Out Nov 15th (11/13/2007 3:23:50 AM)
The annual Great American Smoke Out is this coming Thursday. i have been trying to quit since June 15th, and have failed. i'm considering using the Smoke Out as a new quit date but there is a whole carton of cigarettes in my house.
i have tried: chantix; patches; gum; cold turkey; hospital sponsored behavior modifcation program; hypnosis; all with less than satisfactory results. A friend told me there's a new cigarette on the market which comes in 3 types, stepping down Y/your nicotine intact to practically zero before Y/you quit completely. Sounds good in theory but i think i'd just end up chain smoking.
Any ideas for the miserable wanna be non-smoker?

We are have our dragons hun. If you cant quit, per haps whittle it down- so the damage is lesser.

Believe it or not, cold turkey is likely the best way to actually quit.
However, before you try, remove all smoking clues, and line up alternate behaviors to take the place of what smoking does for you.
