i know this is a little off the topic, but i've had the experience of swallowing the cum of a smoker.  i can definitely taste the nicotine in the cum.  Is this common in smokers?  Am i then, taking the nicotine into my own body?

This is without question the truth, if you suck the cock of a smoker you will defintately ingest nicotine laden cum, however it will be going into your stomach and the acid within will destroy any ill effects that might be of danger to your health.  However this in no way addresses the question of taste....There is the saying to kiss a smoker is like licking an ashtray, well that cum does down a lot further than a kiss might.

i don't see the attraction, myself. personally it does not appeal to me for someone else to go that far with me...but of course...i can't stand the site of it anyway

Semen is primarily made up of glucose aka sugar. Yet not enough that would hurt a diabetic you're just not taking enough in. There is also some blood and urine in there.

I believe it was Rod Stewart many years ago had to have his stomach pumped because he had too much semen in it. So, I'd stay away from drinking massive doses.

Personally, I never put anything smaller than my elbow in my ear or anything I wasn't willing to swallow in my mouth.  Do keep in mind, spitting doesn't keep ya safe...

If your question refers to whether it is safer to spit rather than swallow, my take is that is the same deal.  Any bug that you might get from semen or directly from a skin or mucose lesion (either male or female), surely will enter your bloodstream through any lesion from your lips or inside your mouth or gums (as somebody said above), any bug that reaches the stomach dies because of its acidity (a form of protection).  So if you trust the person, either way is the same.
Is true that oral or vaginal are safer than anal, and this is because anal penetration frequently provokes microtears on the mucose and if the other person is infected you have less defensive barriers.  But thinking that way is gambling.  I suggest not to have sex with someone with whom you don't trust enough to have anal sex. Meaning: if you feel you need protection for anal sex (other than for cleaniness purposes) you need protection for other forms of sex.
