A lot of those positive portrayals are of surface representations of kink and purely sexual play...I think the idea of a kink lifestyle is still unacceptable to many. I've never seen a realistic and/or positive portrayal of the lifestyle aside from Secretary, it's always about someone getting maimed or killed. And yet it would be such fascinating material!

There is  no enough culture "out there" for everyone to see.  The Secretary broke a lot of rules as did Brokeback Mountain and even Thelma & Louise.  If "A Good Sub Story" were made into a film, how wonderful would that be.  Fr now it is a small gem of a play playing in Kentish Town till 9th Dec.

Personally, I really like the feeling of being part of something a bit unconventional, I feel less vanilla that way. But I see your point.

I just wish the law would be more tolerant of this lifestyle.
