Muttling -> A statement of confusion...... (11/19/2007 11:56:48 PM)

I know who and what I am.   I am strongly masochistic, I am submissive in many situations, and I am dominant in several situations.   What a mixture!!!!!!

I have friends who are even more eclectic than myself.  The most impressive masochist I have ever met is a woman and she does not have a dominant bone in her body.   That said, she does not have a submissive bone either.  She really enjoys the intensity of pain, but when it comes to D/s she is totally turned off.   There is so very much to learn from  this woman.  She knows who she is and what she likes, she is happy to explain it to you and to let you try your hand at pleasing her.  That said, she is very special and very unique.

I define myself as a masochistic switch.  I take great joy in power exchange, but only when the joy is shared.  I also take great joy in the intensity of pain but only when the joy is shared.   The word "shared" comonly comes to mind for me and I think that is what defines a switch.

I welcome other comments and dicussions (be they supportive or in conflict.)

With respect to all,

Mutt

Your friend sounds a lot like one of my friends in college. She would laugh at being in a Ds relationship.

But yeah, overall I think we all have different aspects to us. It’s a big continuum out there, and we all fit on different places on it.

And I don’t think “shared” defines switch at all. I think the sharing is part of a lot of happy couples. They share things with each other, it’s a reason why they are together after all.

I think D/s is only a viable mechanic for people who desire very intimate relationships.  I think your average Joe doesn't desire that.  Some people lean very heavily towards D/s relationships (I'm one of those people.)  Other people lean more towards fetishism; not necessarily sexual fetishism, but simply an indulgance in exotic, new, and interesting activities.  They don't necessarily feel compelled to experience these things with or for others.  This doesn't mean their need isn't valid; it just means it's driven by a different need, from a different personality.  By the same token, it's not unlike (say) the difference between the kind of person who studies math to become an engineer, and someone who studies sociology to become a case worker.  They're both in their own specialized field, likely with very different motivations for what they do.

Mutlling, I'm not sure how this is a statement of confusion.  You seem to know what it is you want and have no confusion there.  The fact that others aren't the same shouldn't be confusing, we all have different desires and needs.

I have to agree with Laurell. You have stated very well what you are. We are all human and in so we are all differant. The only confusion I might see is have you asked this lady you know to mentor you? If not have her show you what she knows. She will probley take great pride in showing you what she has locked up in her head. The worst thing she can do is say no.

*sighs*

Did I mention I lack self control?

I think that we all are entitled to our own rights and opinions.  I think we should all be thankful that we are allowed to share them here.  I think it is not only intelligent, but necessary to establish and maintain this universal tolderance.

I think.... to much!  Someone once told me to stop thinking and just do.  I'm doing now, so I'm out.  Lessons learned.  Points taken... Score one for the home team... as par for the course.

thoroughly humiliated and humbled, just like she asked for,

So many people tie what we do and enjoy in with our role. I'm here to tell you from direct observation and experience that what we do doesn't necessarily define who we are. I know many masochistic Masters and sadistic slaves. Be who you are.
