Yes, men can definitely be sluts too.  Being, as I am, a pain slut, a CBT slut and a general, all around slut slut, I LOVE being called, "Slut"

Thanks Harry !
    how do you define the word "slut"   what does it mean to you?
   you use it
    cbt slut  pain slut
  meaning??   loving it   wanting it  more more more  ?  <<<makes you a slut about it?
or something else??

does it have to be sexual to have "slut" conotation...?

if someone loves mint chocolate chip icecream..can that make them an ice cream slut??  or are they only a slut if they use the icecream to slather and fill kinky places on another person ??

not meaning this to pick on you...you just bring up a good point ( no pun intended ) ..
thanks for indulging me : )and responding..You seem like a person who really knows who he is and what he likes..

Thanks Luci
your comments are very valid and I am glad you came to this thread and commented..  I saw what was insinuated, and am glad to hear your reaction  : )   or lack there of  [;)]
thanks

You're welcome, Cyntilating.  I think that's the key: lack of reaction.  If a woman doesn't care that some jerk who's threatened by her sexuality and freedom and openness calls her a childish name, than his words hold no sway over her.  Even though I don't want someone who knows nothing about me calling me names, the word really has never been negative for me.  Especially since such a slur almost always comes from either a jealous female or some guy who doesn't get any from the supposed "slut."[;)]  Or some bitter old prude who just can't accept that someone can be so happily free sexually..............luci

how would this be a true statement for a Domme calling her sub/slave/pet/fill in the blank    a slut????
  she is in control in the relationship...
    is fear or jealousy really her motivation for using the term ??

laurell3 -> RE: The "S" word (11/23/2007 6:08:54 PM)

As you age, words like "slut" or "tramp" are just meaningless from the vanilla public.  Honestly, I'm not sure why someone would let anyone else define their sexuality that way.  In the d/s sense, amongst most of my friends "slut" is actually a compliment.  It means sexually liberated, open, not afraid to try anything (almost) once.  I am most definitely a slut for my partner and his use of the word is a term of endearment.  If anyone else other than friends or partner uses the word to me, I just laugh.

topcat -> RE: The "S" word (11/23/2007 6:11:28 PM)

Dear Cyntilating,

No, I suppose not- and it's really not the definition that I'd use today. OTOH, as much as I still have to learn about human sexuality, I had a lot more to learn in '86 <g>.

Stay warm,
Lawrence

It is now my word.  lt's meaning is my meaning, it has a very positive connotation, and there isn't a single person living or dead who could hurt me with this word.

An excellent point...Age!
   I am turning 50 next month.
many things in my life can fall under the category
  "once fretted over, now taken in stride"

someone wants to call me freaky-deaky...kewlbeans..go for it.

There was a day when I took for granted certain positions my body would bend into........stamina..........gravity as only a positive thing about life [:o].....

I guess, as you say Laurell, others definition of what I choose to do with myself intimately, is meaningless..

thanks

i agree with you luci, once again.

The power of a word was mentioned.....it's kind of like....

Bad example, but a good one(maybe) to make my point is...Say that someone contracts HIV...it is stigmatized by alot of people...But, what really makes it any different than say cancer? or Lupus? or any other thing that one can get and possibly die from? Nothing (symptomolgy) except the way one contracts it and it's name.
It is made to be something uglier than the others for this reason. Ultimately it is a disease, just like the others but the way people look at it can be different.

So a man can do all kinds of stuff and he is a stud, has great sexual prowess yadda yadda yadda. A woman does something similar and she is a slut. Used in a negative conotation....There is no difference between the two, and yet the woman, for her actions is stigmatized and looked down on.

Slut is just a word...it can leave a good feeling with someone...it can leave a bad feeling...but it is simply a word and the way we HEAR it makes the difference...the way it is SAID makes the difference.

What was it that was said by some old dude with really dumb hair and even dumber taste in clothes? Oh yeah, something about a rose by any other name.... and all of that.

the word really doesn't matter so much it's what's behind it.

Not my cup of tea but didn't imply there was anything wrong with it, just how i associate the term to mean.  The focus was that the connection between her and her partner mattered less then getting off. In fact there need not even be any connection at all.

Men can have the same approach but your right we don't label them sluts - but i think they are thought of the same way.  Men get less flack than women in the vanilla world for sleeping around.  i think it's changing somewhat, but slowly.

strappie051234 -> RE: The "S" word (11/23/2007 6:50:11 PM)

Hehe ive been called a slut numerous times, the first time my Dominant called me a slut i found it to be very hot!!  i have another friend who calls me a slut because i like playing with other dom(me)s but thats only because my Dominant allows me to.  i dont have sex with them or Her for that matter...Certain words mean certain things to certain people lol.   But i am noticing that slut isn't being said as a negative thing when it comes to people in the lifestyle...Now in the nilla world, thats a totally different story entirely ;)

Slut
What does the word mean to you?
positive or negative<< is determined more by the attitude of the caller of the name  or   the attitude of the receiver of the name ?

SLUT - It means different things to different people at different times.

Dog. What does the word mean to you?  If you ask 10 people to conjure a picture of the word "dog", and then ask them to describe the picture in their mind - you will have a German shepherd, a cocker spaniel, a maltese, a pit bull...you get the idea.  One word's meaning depends on the context of the use, the background of the person saying it and the background of the person hearing it.

GAY - this word used to have mostly positive connotations until it was used as a synonym for homosexual.

1.having or showing a merry, lively mood: gay spirits; gay music.
2.bright or showy: gay colors; gay ornaments.
3.given to or abounding in social or other pleasures: a gay social season.
4.licentious; dissipated; wanton: The baron is a gay old rogue with an eye for the ladies.

So now the question is - why do you ask?

RRafe -> RE: The "S" word (11/23/2007 7:48:46 PM)

Means nothing to me.

Beleive me, I can say things with a great deal more impact-that aren't cliches.

KashmirKitten -> RE: The "S" word (11/23/2007 7:52:31 PM)

To me it would matter who was calling me slut. When Master Chris calls me this it has ummm a moistening efect[;)] But if my mother was to call me a slut i would be very hurt. Noy sure if that helps, just my .02 worth....
