Charmd, well said.
And the Emma Lazzarrus poem was added to the statue of "Liberty" after it was erected.
It's called "Lady Liberty", not "Lady Immigration."

Thank you, popeye,

I have come to realize it is very important to start looking at the symbols that are being thrown in our faces daily; consider them carefully, make sure we are saying what we mean and mean what we say. Also, just as importantly, investigate any previous meanings these symbols may have had. We have been programed to stop asking "why".

“Justice” is the name of a Greek goddess. She has many different names in many different cultures. Probably the most widely know in America today is “The Virgin Mary” or the constellation “Virgo”. The scale she holds is Libra because Libra is so close to Virgo. Have you ever seen “Virgo” or ”The Virgin Mary” depicted as being blindfolded? Have you notice how “Lady Liberty” appears to be blind as well; there is not shading in her eyes. I can’t help but wonder what she’s not supposed to be looking at.

Think about the “War on Terror”; terror is an emotion, emotions come from within. There is only one way to conquer an emotion; change prospective. Therefore, to win the “War on Terror”, all one really has to do is stop being afraid. It is a battle fought by the individual, which encourages more segregation. What makes me feel safe is not always going to be the same as what makes someone else safe.

k
