Lordandmaster -> RE: Collarme Featured in OH Political Smear Campaign (8/13/2005 9:23:50 PM)

Interesting. Can't Collarme sue if someone posts an image from their site without their consent?

stef -> RE: Collarme Featured in OH Political Smear Campaign (8/13/2005 10:05:29 PM)

Of course they could sue, all they have to do is pay the filing fee. Could they win? That's another matter entirely.

Besides, it's free advertising.

I really second the Ick! I just spent an hour on the below links--I'm afraid it's too late for us all here in America. Ick is right indeed!

But, would the owners of Collarme want the publicity? I think not! I think --like me, they hope it fades away as soon as posible, so more unfriendly as'les don't get the site address and start looking for people to screw up!

Angrylibrarian -> RE: Collarme Featured in OH Political Smear Campaign (8/15/2005 11:02:23 AM)

Maybe if the dude didn't try to discriminate against gays his own sexual preferences wouldnt be brought to light. Its hardly a smear campaign when the guy said "Id never post an ad saying im a heterosexual who likes women' Uh yeah you did asshole. And you like to whip them too. Not gonna write an amendment to ban that now are you.

I hardly see this as bad for collarme though, unless you think a lot more hypocrites from the religious wing of the gop joining collarme is bad.

onceburned -> RE: Collarme Featured in OH Political Smear Campaign (8/15/2005 11:58:40 AM)

I don't think it is bad for Collarme but it ought to give many of us pause. If we don't want our activity on Collarme/Collarchat known to the wider world, we should make sure that we use email addresses and nicknames which we don't use in the vanilla world.

That's so [uncharacteristically] optimistic of you, A.L.! :)

Problem is, you can't unpublicize something. Once you're outed, you're outed - and you have to deal with the consequences.

Some people can flaunt it like a rockstar, but most just get strange cold looks, and are left wondering why they were suddenly refused promotion with no explanation.
If you're working with kids, as a daycare provider or gradeschool teacher? You're pretty fucked.

So I don't know who I'm more upset at - him and those like him for being small-minded hypocritical twits, or the Dems for resorting to tactics like this.

kitten.
You need to read the history. The Dems did this AFTER this hypocrit tried to impugn the service fo Col. Hackett. Your memory is short...they used the same "Swift Boat" group that went after John Kerry.

Angrylibrarian -> RE: Collarme Featured in OH Political Smear Campaign (8/17/2005 9:15:48 AM)

I did read the history and I dont see any organised nor official representative of the democratic party having anything to do with this. the guy said some stuff and was outed by some pissed off people and or bloggers. insult people on the internet expect to get burned by the internet. Where does it say the democratic party had anything to do with pulling the profile public? The guy writing from daily Kos is just some guy who hates hypocrites unles I missed a paragraph.

kyakitten -> RE: Collarme Featured in OH Political Smear Campaign (8/17/2005 12:51:32 PM)

Jerry - Sure, politicos pull this tawdry stuff all the time. Does that make it okay to stoop to conquer? I'd rather see candidates win on their merits than on their competition's flaws. Idealistic, sure; unrealistic, perhaps; but worth aspiring to.

Good point, AL. Although the nonexistence of visible links doesn't mean there are no links.... the larger point I guess is that a party's only as good as the people who comprise it.

just goes to show you cant be in politics, or republican if you want to practice the other alternative lifestyle

No, you just have to use a little common sense. Instead of forwarding email, create a new, secure account in which to recieve your emails. There are a LOT of ways around being found out if you don't want to be. Or, you could just not be a politician, too...lol.

Angrylibrarian -> RE: Collarme Featured in OH Political Smear Campaign (8/23/2005 8:58:27 AM)

I researched this. No Democratic party affiliation. This man said a whole lot of hateful shit about gays and they outed him for it. If you cant stand the heat get out of the way of the flamethrower. Fuck that ass hole. (very bad choice of curse language there)

Angrylibrarian- forwarding the cause of apoplectic rage since 2000

oceangem -> RE: Collarme Featured in OH Political Smear Campaign (9/9/2005 7:50:22 PM)

that idea may work if you only use this nick for Collarme ...but what about those that have had their "nick" for a long time .... now a days you just have to "google" a name and it comes up ...i did my own and i was surprised to see what i have said (which i thought was kept here) and profiles from "other" sites ... so maybe Collarme should look into that, how to keep the postings here and not going out into the www?

rwmbk -> RE: Collarme Featured in OH Political Smear Campaign (9/9/2005 8:54:10 PM)

I suggested that sometime ago when I discovered the same thing. A simple robots.txt file can control what is crawled by search engines.

As a result I've take my face of my picture for obvious reasons, thats something I can disclose privately if need be.
