What are the potential risks of impact play and bruising for an older male bottom on Lovenox injections after knee replacement surgery? Lovenox is a blood thinning medication intended to reduce the risks of clotting subsequent to such surgeries.

Go milder, he's going to bruise more easily and the bruises are going to stay longer. If you happen to draw blood, either purposefully or not, it will take longer to clot - probably best to avoid until he's off the lovenox (which after knee surgery, should only be a few weeks).

Well, normally his butt doesn't bruise atall. I expect on a drug like this it would bruise more readily, but I'm not laying a finger on him let alone a cane or a paddle until the doc gives clearance. My concern is thromboembolism, which is potentially fatal. I'm aware that he's on Lovenox in order to prevent that very condition subsequent to the surgery. My concern is whether that means he might be at higher risk of that specific complication from impact play. It's not something I'm willing to fool around with. He's disappointed but respects my decision to hold off.

The real danger post-op with thromboembolism is not moving around - although the patient is encouraged not to over exert themselves, it is (especially in hospital) when they do nothing but stay in bed that it becomes much more likely to happen. So a few slaps is less dangerous than say, tied up for a few hours.

He likes rather more than a few slaps; he's a pretty heavy bottom. Fortunately he's also very physically fit and active, and highly motivated to recover quickly so he can get back to his physical activities. I'm still not gonna whack on him until I find out more about the implications of bruising and impact with the drugs he's on and the condition he's in.

While on a blood thinner, you're prone to bruise easier. Cuts and such take a little longer to stop bleeding. As for Thrombolism or Clot there are some limits to consider with Play Time. Heavy bondage, causing lack of blood flow, or forced to stay in one position for extended amounts of time are big players in causing thromboembolism or clots. Truck drivers, airplane pilots, and cubical workers are a big percentage of people who end up with thrombosis or clots in there legs. He had knee surgery so I assume that he's still doing his P.T. and rehab. I'm also going to assume that he has a prescription for Vicodin or Darvocet. I don't know what goes on in your normal play time and punishment but I'm afraid you're going to have to limit yourself and stick with the basics for a few months. Lite bondage, blind folds, wax play, ennamas, orgasim denile, ball gags, water play, and sued lether toys are pretty much the safest forms of play the two of you can have. I wish you the best. I know you'll both endure and make it work.

As for what normally goes on, he's my friend and play buddy, not my primary partner. We don't do anything sexual, and he plays with a number of other people. I'm trying to look out for his safety by researching the situation. He's smart enough that if I say no, I won't play with you while you're medically questionable because I am worried for your safety, he probably won't go seeking play elsewhere or do any really stringent self-bondage play. His primary partner, a gay male bottom who is also a good friend of mine, is definitely on the same page as me in terms of looking out for his safety and not wanting him to do any play that might be medically risky. Between my admonitions and his primary partner's concern, I'm sure he'll be good and wait to play at least until he's off the Lovenox. I told him to ask his doctor directly about some of the issues, and if he doesn't want to out himself as kinky, he can ask about "very hard Shiatsu massage that involves beating and pounding and leaves bruises."

I would also ask how long it takes for the drug to be out of his system once he stops taking it. My Sir is on blood thinners and one that He takes recommends to stop taking it for 7 days prior to any surgery.
