I've been reading up on the 5 Gates of Hell: WARNING: Not work safe! http://www.extremerestraints.com/gates-of-hell_83.html
and wanting to get one. I don't want it for a long time, just an hour or so for a single play session at a time.
My main goal is to make erection uncomfortable or painful, and it certainly looks painful, but after reading a lot of reviews I'm hearing that men enjoy it, that it's just for looks, and that they easily orgasm in it.

Paniful by its self, no. Tight and restricting, yes. Some types of play have the potential of being painful while wearing this device. As far as orgasm, it might make it easier for some and harder for others. I can see this device pleasing both the dom and sub by tormenting your subs and making them concentrate on the restriction it causes. It will also help keep the sub arroused during the session. This might not be what you had in mind and is a lot more expensive
