I don't mind the label.  I just wish it didn't so often cause people to think w can't be twue submissives or dominants.  And although it is even more likely to be misinterpreted, I often just like "greedy slut".  Pretty much, I love giving and getting sensations, with, from, and to any gender and I like power exchange, whether fluid or static, so greedy slut pretty much covers it.  In any event, I use the word switch fairly often.  I think that while the idea of "no labels" is appealing in some ways, really people just want lables to get a better sense of us.  If we had no lables at all, conversations would get pretty muddled.

Some lesbians get really ugly and nasty towards us "bi" girls.  They call us "confused".  I agree with you about "greedy slut"  hehehe
I'm not confused, I'm greedy.   And I'm Switch because it depends on the person I'm with as to how I'm going to want to play......different people can bring out both sides of me.

to let someone else's label bother you is ultimately labeling them, is it not? people make labels to get a frame of reference, not to encompass all that 'you' are. Another form of control per se.

words are what separate us as human beings because for every word there's six billion-plus ways to understand it. they also bring people together because people are templates without experience and these words appeal to templates, not necessarily their experiences.

Grlwithboy -> RE: How many switches......? (12/11/2007 12:51:29 PM)

I don't like the label because people immediately assume that I'm much more versatile than I actually am. I stick with Dominant as it covers most of my bases, Dominant without being totally uptight about it.

just like i use the word Bisexual when i'm really non gender specific usually.

Hehe.. I haven't heard it phrased quite that way before. I am going to have to quote you on that one because that's the way i see it, too. Thanks! :)

Welcome, its kinda came to me at random when i was explaining to a friend real life. i used to say omisexual until my cousin joked "does that mean you'd do with with a stop sign?"

course I think there is a scale on swiching from 1 to like 10 (for simplicity sake)

Dnomyar -> RE: How many switches......? (12/13/2007 5:37:06 AM)

raechard I just printed out "I am a certified switch certificate" on my computer. So there. Anything else.

Labels are time-savers, and nothing more.  It is a useful shorthand when trying to describe yourself without taking a long time.  Once you get to know a person, you learn what they really mean by that label.  Switches vary widely in their definition of what that switching consists of, but then no Dom/me is exactly the same as another, either.

In my experience, I have met more sub/bottom-identified switches than Dom/top.  It's a common pattern for new lifestylers to start out bottoming and move "up" as it were.  I think it's a useful learning experience for many, but not right for everyone.

When I got into the lifestyle, my answer to everyone's question was "I'm a sub!!!!!!!"  As I gained experience, that changed to, "I'm primarily a bottom but I also switch."  Now, I'm looking for a submissive to call my own, while my non-D/s oriented (he hates the word vanilla) life partner is bravely learning more about the lifestyle in hopes of being my loving Top.  What can I say.. I yam what I yam! Switch is the only label that works for me if I have to use only one word, since all the others are much more misleading.

KnOcala -> RE: How many switches......? (12/25/2007 3:33:59 AM)

with the switch label, I think you get less interest because doms and subs are generally where they want to be and have no interest in reversing roles, no label I believe would be worse.

daemonaries -> RE: How many switches......? (12/30/2007 5:39:29 PM)

I don't mind being called a switch because I know that I enjoy it both ways.  My fiance and I are both switches and enjoy taking turns being the dominant one.  *shrugs*

oliderid -> RE: How many switches......? (1/2/2008 4:47:20 PM)

daemonaries I totally agree with you. You get the best of both worlds. What should you limit yourself to one side of the game? Switch couples rocks! ;-)
