It seems christmas is the only time I go all out baking wise, I always make a heavy brandy soaked rich fruit cake, I make it in july, so it can mature, make the almond paste(marzipan) and ice it
Tons of butter shortbread
Christmas pudding with rum sauce
Rum balls
Mince pies
Roast Turkey, Roast potatoes, Yorkshires, Sage and onion stuffing with chestnut stuffing too if I can get them, carrots, sprouts(buttered) and peas. Bisto gravy
Buttertarts
and no I cant pick a favourite...sorry:)

Lucylastic, I am not a fruit cake fan, however your recipe sounds heavenly!  My family does boiled crab legs and shrimp scampi for Xmas eve.  mmmmmmmmmmmm!!! For the dinner that is all we eat, well and some kind of bread/salad.  We eat quite a bit of Appetizers though. several types of pate and cheeses, and stuffed olives and Ferrero's Hazelnut wrapped chocolates, (love those and the coconut ones.) for dessert, my uncle in the last few years has made a walnut cheese cake, OMGs it is sinful! and my auntie usually makes wonderful Mousse, the kind you could make a meal out of!  lol just thinking about all that food is making me feel full! heh.

Considering this question makes me realize that I'm not a big holiday food person.  I can certainly enjoy it, but none of it is among my favourite foods.

*However,* for some reason, I've had a craving for peppermint ice cream and candy - especially the ice cream - just recently.  I wonder what it means, since peppermint oil is an herb.

Where's the rum?

Here's a nice Christmas decoration treat:

Standard chocoalte fudge of choice with a hint of cinnomon.

Spread a layer of pestacio green pudding

layer cool whip and cherries to your hearts content.

You have a christmas theme desert.

enjoy.

ooo ribbon candy...I forgot that stuff existed, I need some now!   The round ball cookies with powdered sugar on them and the peanut butterish cookies with hershey's kisses in the middle (I don't remember the names of them).

Who knows that beer can be used to make such yummy deserts? That's right, I said beer. Irish Stout to be more precised. Don't knock it untill you've tried it.

Here is a book that I own. It contains a recipe called Aunty Betty's Christmas Pudding. It's good stuff and I swear to it. You can trust me.
