From experience, in a very close-knit community it might matter to know that a slave was trained by someone that you had first hand knowledge both knew what he was doing, and shared similar standards and preferences with you. That situation is so rare as to be, in my experience, almost non-existant.

Over the years, I've had more novices than I can count tell me "well, he says he'll train me". When I ask "train you to do what?" They don't know. I tell them "well, go ask". The answer that they return with mostly is "he says I'll find out, and when I asked again he got mad and said that a real slave doesn't question things like that".

Now, there are some legit answers to that question. Training a slave can entail training her body, either to a generally higher level of sexual excitabiliy and responsiveness, or to be able to perform some act that she wasn't before, or in the case of someone more SM oriented, it could be conditioning her to accept more intense stimuli that she was originally able to cope with. It might mean teaching the slave a set of commands and that particular master's policies and expectations. It could be something as simple as sending her to learn how to dance, or cook, or any number of similar arts. Usually, it also entails getting her to open up emotionally and find a deeper understanding within herself of what it means to be a slave. I seldom hear answers along those lines when I tell a novice to go and ask the erstwhile Dom what's up. Mostly just 'you'll see". Well, more often than not, the "you'll see" comes and training turns out to be oddly identical to fucking/spanking/plugging/whipping/<insert kinky play of your choice here>. The only differenence is that the Dom, after a while, gets to say "OK, you're trained, you can go home now". Hmmm.

Take care of yourselves.

I know of many prospective Owners who do indeed ask available submissives about previous training - not in order to find the one with the "least amount of work left to do," but simply to get insight into what has proven useful - and useless - in training, as regards punishments and rewards. Also, I Myself ask about previous training as an inroad to asking how and why prior relationships ended - not dissimilar from the questions that might be asked by a prospective employer *and/or* a vanilla blind date.

A good but effective saying comes to mind....."You can't know what you don't know." What may be obvious to me may not be to someone else without good and consistent communication via training. As training progresses, the sub goes from elementary knowledge to refinement. With each experience the outcome is better and better. Training is about outcome but keep in mind that the "journey" of training is also a source of pleasure, love and devotion.
