I thought this thread was going to be about burglar alarms and such like.

That's a fun idea... put a car alarm setup on a sub so that they can press the panic button any time another comes too close or hits on them.

I'm joking, of course, other than in the purest sense of playful silliness.

LOL too funny! {heads for online shopping!}

I came back to edit my post above, but I am just using FR instead.

My answer above is to the general question- I certainly didn't mean to imply that the OP was being passive-agressive, or goldbricking.

Personally, I read what you posted as very positive!  I didn't see where it sounded like you were doing this.  Your saying what you did said to me that you have a deep concern for your submissive and have dealt with this topic before, but that you don't put up with improper use of it all.  Didn't see anything that pointed a finger!

Have a great day!

to me "protect the property" gives me the permission i need (if i didn't need permission to do things i wouldn't be a slave.....) to not have to be everything to everyone...whether it's not over committing within the community to the point that i am so exhausted i have seizures all the time, or that i compromise my core values because someone wants something from me...and anything and everything inbetween and outside...and when that is taken care of it includes take care of the material things....i am the most important property....everything else can be replaced...

To me it means taking care of your self mentally physically and emotionally.  Making sure your getting rest. After all it is like a car you have to change the oil and tires to keep it running. If you do not take care you will not have any fun doing things you love to do

My Daddy says

Wash it when it is dirty
condition it when it dries out
Lock it up when you leave it alone
Feed it when it is hungry
Take it to the sub doctor when it is sick
Install the lojack vehicle recovery system  in its ass
And a backup RFID tag in its ear...

Voila - Property protected!

The funny thing is that he can translate my loud grunts about a biteful of food to mean "Something is going on, get down here NOW!". I swear it's because he is used to hearing me gagged.

It probably means that you should not be using a trite saying to substitute for the sort of common sense that any sane adult uses in day to day life. We own ourselves-anything else is just a loan.

It was great. I had just popped a slice of feta cheese in my mouth (I like the blocks instead of the crumbles) when I heard these weird noises outside. I start going "Mrrpph!!! Mrrrpphhh! NUHHH!!" and he knows exactly what to do. Comes running down the stairs with his sword and mine to give to me.

With apologies to Issac Asimov, I have modified his Three Laws of Robotics to define my understanding of "protect the property":

  1. A submissive may not seriously injure themselves or, through inaction, allow themselves to come to serious harm.
  2. A submissive must obey orders given by the Dominant, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
  3. A submissive must protect the Dominant's other property as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Issac Asimov was the first Sci Fi I ever read and led to a life long love of Sci Fi &/ fantasy, I have never thought of his three laws of robotics this way but it makes perfect sense and I thank you for the smile I will have for the rest of the day.  I may even take a walk down memory lane and reread them ... though 30yrs later perhaps I will not enjoy them as much and damage a wonderful memory lol.

Merry Christmas to all.

~~fast reply after reading the thread~~

Daddy refers to me as his most precious property.  and yes, i'm semi disabled, and yes, i have very bad days at times.  an i have times when i am pushing myself FAR too hard, and i find my ass in a sling with him, because i am NOT protecting his property when i wear myself to a frazzle, end up having seizures and not being able to control my fine motor movements, fall down from exhaustion (literally) and generally be useless as tits on a boar.

at those times, i am ordered to take care of myself, even if it means not talking with him for a couple of days as long as i keep him informed with a brief email. (we dont share a household).  if we DID share a household, he would be telling me the same things, that i need to rest and take better care of myself.

if i dont take care of his property....how can i serve him?  and yes, that is a literal quote from his own lips.   and that does include the issues i have with controlling the urge to self injure...i am under orders to do  no deliberate harm to myself, that i am to take care of myself which includes getting adequate sleep even if i miss talking with him, and that i am to ask for help when i need it.  (i struggle with that last one!!!)

kitten, whose Daddy was amused at my bitching about those standing orders....

my Sir shocked me this morning by saying he no longer believes in "protect the property."

the context is that i'm disabled and have limitations, and his standing orders are to take care of myself, not push myself into crashing, to get rest when i need it. i'm a type-A who used to work 2-3 jobs at a time, so i'm still learning how to balance my activities as i adapt to my ever-changing body. so i'm quite shocked at the change, and i've written him a letter, initiating a discussion. but i also want to hear other's opinions - perhaps it's just how i've been trained since my early 20s and that was those specific Dominants' preferences but not necessarily a good thing?

so, "protect the property" - what does it mean to you?
raven

We rarely speak of "protection."  However, his lessons have served to "protect" me.  I prefer to say they equipped me for dealing with life in the best way possible. He taught me to love myself, to hold myself in high regard, and to live a healthy, happy, fulfilling and productive life in the event of his death.  He did this by not coddling me and by continually raising the bar I am expected to meet.  It was difficult, yet it was the best lesson and gift anyone could have given me.
