ORIGINAL: SirMagicalhands I am looking to research the safety of alcohol use in enigma Knowing it can be very dangerous, looking for safe amounts, if any can be used Does anyone know web site or sites for research??? Thanks I will be charitable and guess that you mean "enema" not "enigma". I will further guess that you mean consumable alcohol such as wine, beer, and so forth. And now I stop with the guesswork, and present you with medical facts. (You can check these yourself with "google" or you can ask your physician or health-care provider, if my information as a pharmacist isn't enough for you). The intestines absorb any substance at over 3 times the rate that the stomach would absorb them, and the intestinal lining is easily damaged by many substances which would ordinarily be "safe". Alcohol (liquor of any kind) can cause fatal poisoning even when it is ingested through drinking. It is even more dangerous, and more likely to cause serious or fatal poisoning, if introduced into the body via the large intestine and colon. It takes less than 1/4 cup of beer, whine, or "hard liquor" to create a potentially life-threatening condition. Bottom line, therefore? Don't be stupid. Never use alcohol in an enema preparation.
