If you want to learn this way, yes, you can. They only drawback I've ever found is that they can't necessaryly see what you're doing, meaning how you're holding the toy in order to suggest a correction. That can be helpful.

Of course!  Anyone can learn something from any other person, of course.  An experienced sub certainly can educate the inexperienced Dom.  It might be just that, if you do that, you might injure me, or it might be, I like to be hit this way.

If the Dom and sub are open to it, both can learn from each other, me thinks.

Ask questions.  There is no prohibition from inquiring of a submissive what she thinks of this or that technique or scene.  Neither is there any shame in acknowledging that you have not played a certain way before.

An inexperienced dominant may indeed learn from a submissive.  An experienced dominant will almost certainly learn from a submissive.

I have learned something every day I have been with any sub or slave I've ever been with.  About her, about me, about what I like, or don't like, about new things I want to try, about things I won't try again.  It goes on and on.  The frustrations start to build, IMO, when nothing new is ever injected into life, when the old becomes mundane, when boredom begins to creep in.  Keeping it new and fresh means learning from everyone around you.

I am interested as a switch.  My only hesitation as dominant is my lack of experience.  Is it possible to learn from a sub or would the sub grow frustrated and not satisified because they are aiding in leading the situation?  I have limited experience with spanking, a flogger, light bondage.  Last experience I was returning from town and gave her instructions that before I arrived I wanted her naked on her hands and knees facing away from me with her favorite toy near the foot of the bed.  It started out well, I blindfolded her and put restraints on her and started with spanking and my flogger but after I strapped her down I felt a little unsure of myself but continued.  She was very satisfied but I felt like I needed to do more.   How do you learn except through trial and error and from your own experiences on the other end?

Yes a dominant can certainly learn from a submissive. I, personally, have little patience for a dominant who is unwilling to learn from a submissive who happens to know more about something.

I taught Valyraen everything that I knew about flogging, spanking, etc. He's learned from other sources as well, books, this website, other dominants and other submissives that we have had the pleasure of speaking with. He learns from everyone, something that I find incredibly attractive.
