Mine is female. My friend and I laugh every time it says "Recalculating Route" or "Make the next legal U-turn". And another thing it does that I get a laugh over is that it was preset to avoid HOV lanes, but it doesn't. It says HOV like it's a word (hover without the -er)! So it tries to get me on the HOV lanes even when they're closed to my side of traffic. I love you VZ Nav, lol.

My slave's has a nice crisp British accent...and she is always bossing him around telling him to 'turn around when possible'- I am sure he loooooooves it.  I believe he now calls her 'Stephanie'...and when I am not around, 'Mistress Stephanie' [;)]

LOL, same here.  I have a '97 Nissan pickup.  It doesn't have any options in it except air conditioning.  It doesn't even have a radio in it.  I think I have about 20 maps behind the seat.  I buy a new Rand McNally atlas every couple of years, and I make a point to buy a city map anytime I go to a new town.  I even have a compass in the glove compartment.  My gadget geek buddies laugh at me, but I have never been lost in my life.

Well, maps are nice when you know where the fuck you are.  When you're utterly lost, they're not that useful.  And they kinda suck when there's an unexpected detour and you have to piece your way back to where you were going.

Yeah LandM, but when do you get that lost?  I always plan out my routes with alternate routes just in case when I venture into unfamiliar areas.  There are always landmarks and street signs you can look at if you don't know where you are.  You just find them on your map, and presto you're back on track.  I have driven with those damn sat nav systems, and I just can't get used to them.  They are distracting when you are trying to drive, and that is exactly what they tempt you to do.  You keep driving, instead of pulling over and getting your bearings right like you should do.

My GPS has the voice of "Gort," the robot from "The Day The Earth Stood Still."

Have you ever tried driving through Trenton, New Jersey?

All this is cool until you're driving at night with poor visibility....

The only option I have on my Garmin Street Plot is a lovely English lady's voice that is named Emily.
