Hi all,
I am not much of a message board user, but I wanted to see if there are any women who have done induced lactation or would want to try.  Lots of guys have tons of things to say about it, but I would really like to talk to an intelligent woman who has done this.

Thanks...

Hi There,

I've done this with an AB. It was a huge fantasy for me as well as him. It was alot of hard work, and we found that the best place for advice were forums for mothers who had just adopted babies and wanted to breast feed. These forums have every possible tip, trick and link you could ever need.
I took supliments, used a pump, and spent a good part of my day with him on my breasts. I imagine this helps. The biggest issue for me though, was when at work.. The milk has to go somewhere! I would have to excuse myself a few times a day to express milk. Because it works on a kind of supply and demand basis.. I had alot as he was living off my breast milk.

Anyway, if you have any questions or you want to talk about this more let me know.

This is a huge fantasy for me as well as one of my partners. I've been looking into it on many forums for adoptive moms who want to breastfeed.

My biggest concerns are twofold -- what are the best kind of supplements to take? I don't particularly want to stop taking my birth control because kids are not for me right now. However, I read that stopping the pill is one of the steps in tricking your body into lactating.

Also, what kind of pump did you use? I have heard the hand pumps from Target and the like are not strong enough to induce lactation, but the dual-breast hospital-grade ones can run several hundreds of dollars. Yikes! What kind of pump did you find effective?

Thanks so much for any guidance you may offer!

Hi:
Well my advice regarding the pump is that you might be able to get a new/used one for cheaper on www.craigslist.com or ebay.  Personally I prefer craigslist and actually DID get my pump from there.  I got the Medela Pump In Style dual electric pump and think that it it good.  I think that this pump would be $200 to $250 in stores new.  I got it, another Medela single electric, and an EverFlo single electric for $20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Great bargain.  I got it from a mother who doesn't need it anymore off of craigslist.

As far as recommendations, based on the selection I have, the Medela Pump in style dual electric pump is definitely the best....best suction....not too noisy, and it dual.  The EverFlo I do not even notice the suction on hardly.  I don't know if maybe it is broken, but the lady I got it from also said that she was not very impressed with it.  The Medela single electric pump is good as far as suction but SUPER noisy compared to the other one.

So, that is the little bit of help that I have to offer.  I have also read that Fenugeek and Blessed Thistle are good herbal supplements to take to increase production.  I have not read that they have any adverse effects but am a bit wary of starting them yet.

I did start pumping....unfortunately I am going out of town and will not be able to keep it up due to privacy issues while I am away....so, it is a shame for me to have started and then now be stopping.

Anyway, I would love to hear from more ppl (women in particular) who have had experience with this or would like to do it...

Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate it!

j

I breastfed for a number of years and found the hospital grade double pump to work for me, and none of the others really did..they just did provide the amount of pull for me.  I always had trouble pumping and had to use a combination of hand expression while having the pump on to get mine going.  The gals I knew who were inducing lactation for adoptees had to use the industrial strength pumps also.
One hint:  remember it's not the end of the nipple that you stimulate...think milking a cow...you bring it down with a little nipple stimulation and then concentrate on the breast, not the nipple.  Your mental state matters alot as well.  Good luck!

Jenny, have you ever breastfed or had a child?  I haven't participated in induced lactation, but several Dominants I was talking with were interested in it.  I did some research and was quite intimidated by the amount of time, dedication and effort induced lactation involves.  I breastfed 3 of my children and was well aware of the demands on the body after pregnancy; induced lactation makes that look like a walk in the park!  BUT it is possible.  I'd advise being in a very secure, loving, trustworthy relationship prior to making this commitment with anyone because it involves massaging your breasts, several times a day, pumping, learning the ins-and-outs of breastfeeding (which are daunting!).

If you have any specific breastfeeding questions, please feel free to send me an email; otherwise, there are plenty of websites if you do a search for 'adult nursing relationship' or 'induced lactation'.

No, I have not had children....
The post from Rianne was interesting as well because I feel that the pump I am using is mainly stimulating/sucking on the nipple. (it is the Medela double electric Pump in style).

I was reading that massage is good, I suppose b/c it does stimulate the rest of the breast.  Yeah, I know it is a loooooooooong process to get it to happen.

Additional comments still welcome.
