i agree.. the PC crap has gone way to far on way to many things.. its jsut stupid any more. i usually dont say anything to most ppl.. i usually wave at ppl i know but i dont see the point in stopping and talkign when i could easily wait till later and clal them.. then we could have a nice chat and not have to go "oh sh*t im late.. later" but if someone does say something to me, wether its happy happy, merry christmas, happy holidays or whatever other holiday i say whatever they said back to them.. its one way ive found that tends to not cause problems. im not afraid to say merry christmas id just rather not have to get in an argument with someone when i probably have something better to do.

This is one of the points I was trying to make with this thread.

You agree with me, that saying "Merry Christmas" might cause some arguments?

How sad a world this has become.

I really tend to think that Bill O'Rielly CAUSED more of this BS than he solved any of it... Typical Republican response of making a mountain out of molehill.  I have been wished a Merry Christmas by athiests, jews, muslims and pagans... In return, I wish them a happy holiday (whichever one is appropo to them) and a better coming year.

Anyone who would be offended by well wishes is obviously an asshole. Since I'm not sure what holidays assholes actually celebrate, I just smile and hope they have a nicer day.

(humming "Better Days" by Green Day to myself as I write this...)

What's the big deal anyway?
You just say "Merry Christmas" to someone and if they give you a ration of shit about it you just punch them in the face.
End of argument.

Here's what I have posted on my livejournal every year around this time when I start hearing about "The War on Christmas" which hypocrites like Bill Asshole'Reilly like to claim is going on.

Stop being cockheads!

Stop being offended because someone's greeting didn't involve blessing the left pinky toe of your sainted uncle as proscribed by the religion you've followed for 5 years.

Stop assuming that because someone DOESN'T say Merry Christmas that they are actually saying "Kill Jesus!"

Just stop. That's it. STOP!

Jesus fuck people! Why can't you all just accept the intent behind what is said instead of dwelling on the words themselves?

I truly don't know which are the biggest idiots:

The Corporate scumfucks who mandate that their wageslavedrones greet people with "Happy Holidays" instead of Happy Hanuka or Merry Christmas or Blessed Yuletide or WHATEVER ...

The Politically Correct fuckwads who've been trying to lobotomize and sanitize every holiday until they have the taste of consistancy of soggy wonderbread. They are the ones who've put pressure on the corporate whores to MAKE them set the policy of saying a bland "Happy Holidays".

The idiot fucks over at FAUX NOISE (especially the pineally stunted retards on Fox & Friends and BILL O'REILLY in specific) for saying there should be government legislature in order to "SAVE" Christmas.

This can all be solved quite easily if EVERYONE just admits they're stupid fucking scumwads and shouldn't be giving the power and influence they've been granted.

...

People, it's really quite fucking simple. When someone says "Merry Christmas", "Happy Hanuka", "Blessed Yuletide" or whatever, they are simply wishing you HAPPY HOLIDAYS in the manner THEY celebrate them. They are not trying to actively spite your own personal faith. Whatever that may be. Accept the glad tidings as what they are. Stop being a cockhead and just ACCEPT!

NONE OF THIS IS IMPORTANT! THERE ARE MAJOR ISSUES THAT DESERVE MUCH MORE ATTENTION THAN THIS!

... With that being said. I heretofore swear that ANYONE talking about the "War on Christmas" in anything other than a joke or with complete disdain will be struck down by an eggnog scented dildo and skullfucked with misteltoe! Get it? Got it? GOOD!

I usually don't watch O'Reilly. Regardless of that one of the corporations I left a few years back, had a policy that stated you could only greet others with Happy Holidays, as a holiday wish.

I say Merry Christmas, and if someone gets offended that is their problem. With me it has nothing to do with relgion, but has everything to do with the holiday tradition I grew up with.

Yes the PC crap has gone way too far.

Merry Christmas to all!!!

The PC argument is a bunch of crap.

The worst one of all is Bill O`Rielly, and his war on Christmas bullshit.

Trying to pit some sort of secrete "secularist" movement(normal people),against the poor oppressed people who want to say "Marry Christmas",or have it said to them,at Walmart and Target.

It was apparently, a huge problem, but he saved America and won the "War on Christmas", for us.Bless him.He declared victory the other day, against the "forces of darkness".omg,What a clown,he is.How is he on TV,and who are the fools watching him?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6Z6nspKddU&feature=related

and

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBUELp-9V8M

Personally,I would like people to just STFU,mind their own fuck`n business, and stop using religion to divide.

These jerks ,with some imagined authority, using religion as a political club,to beat on whoever`s around at the time.Claiming victim-hood,while all the while, making victims by the score. There`s nothing more dangerous than mixing religion and politics.

Happy HOLY-days,

Owner59, ~proud member of the forces of darkness~

No, you're not a dumb fuck.  You have the freedeom to not have one, but not having one shouldn't get everyones panties in a bunch by filing suits over nativity scenes at the court house, prayer before football games, the pledge of allegience, removing some songs from school programs, head dresses in class/prison etc...

Am I scared to say Merry Christmas?

Hell No. What's there to be scared about? I even tell Jews "Happy Easter!"

I'm not offended when people say "Happy _______" in occordance to there beliefs. It's not like they're shoving there beliefs down my throat. In a sense, they're only telling me to have a great day or best wishes.

Some say, "But I don't celebrate that!" "So, it's still a holiday. May joy be with you today anyways. Take care."

Without actual celebration, I can enjoy anyones holiday who is willing to enjoy mine. If anyone is really offended, I'm not going to apologize. He or she is most likely just looking for a fight and being offended as an excuse to mouth off. This is an attempt to have you feel as miserable as them.

greetings mzmia,

i'm not christian, but i celebrate christmas because it's practically the only politically correct thing to celebrate around here :P besides, most of the people i know are christian or else celebrate it with their families because their families are, so it would just be silly not to.

i wish people merry christmas when i know they celebrate it. i find it somewhat rude and inconsiderate when people press the issue of saying "merry christmas" to those who are celebrating something else, because guess what? the whole world is not christian, and remembering that isn't just being pc...i mean, how would you feel if you were one of the few non-christians in the middle of a majority muslim community and every now and then you wanted to hear "merry christmas" instead of "eid mubarak"? i mean, i understand where those who feel as you do are coming from...but try and imagine what it's like to NOT be christian and NOT feel compelled to celebrate christmas for the moment. because the rest of us do have feelings about the subject, too, and not just because we're trying to be politically correct.

that said, i am never scared to say merry christmas, and no one i've met is, either. people say it to me all the time. at work. at school. they say it to each other. they say it regardless of who the person they're saying it to celebrates it. so no, i haven't run into any overwhelming political correctness or fear in saying it at all, actually.

however, as fangsnfeet says, i do think it's nice and i try to keep in mind that people are just wishing that we have a happy day and not trying to shove their beliefs down someone else's throat just by saying something like that. but it is always nice to consider what it must feel like to not be christian and/or not celebrate christmas and get that said to you day in and day out (kind of goes along with the fact that most of the population, in my experience, presumes christianity in this country the way we presume heterosexuality).

sometimes it's good to think outside of the box. merry christmas.

respectfully,
annabelle.

Why is this always framed in religous terms? Last I checked, Christmas is a federal holiday. Last I checked, Santa Claus has nothing to do with religion. To call those green trees with lights on them "holiday trees" instead of what they really are is pretty ridiculous. And all the ads you see touting a big sale going on this time of year? What exactly is the sale for, Kwanza? I doubt it. It is a Christmas sale.
It seems to me that anyone who is offended by hearing Merry Christmas is a moron. Sorry, the majority celebrate Christmas here in the USA. Get over it. And the people who are so anally politically correct that they must stifle free speech in the hopes that nobody is offended by a wonderful sentiment such as Merry Christmas, are even bigger morons.
