Well, I am 190, and I have thrown with shoulder throws and hip throws up to 350 pound students. I have also been thrown by children as small as 80 pounds without damaging them.
The legs and hips can carry a huge amount of weight. Always remember to lift with the legs.
On the other hand, an erect spine can also carry a lot of weight.
What the spine has difficulty with are a) twisting while load bearing and b) lifting.
I would strongly suggest working up to it from light weight to heavy weights, and stop when it gets to the point of discomfort. Understand that in pony shoes the hips are out of their standard walking alignment, which increases the stress on the spine.
