I have had much luck with New Year's resolutions... I do not insist that I must start on Jan 1st and never falter though. I tend to look at what I would like to accomplish for that year and then set out to do it. I have lost a lot of weight and kept it off... South Beach is a way of life for me when I feel my blood sugar is off, and it has remained sustainable for me. I quit smoking three years ago, not on the 1st of Jan, but by the end of Jan... I tend to look at a new year as an opportunity to accomplish something new, as a clean slate. It is a bench mark for what I accomplished last year, and it shows me consistantly that I can accomplish what I set out to do... last year I wanted to start my application to graduate school. I accomplished that. Next year I would like to be making enough money to relocate to graduate school.. and something tells me I will accomplish this also...
