My hip surgery was 7 weeks ago and my incision appears to be completely healed and there is no pain.  My question is--is it too soon to be spanked there.  The scar is about 7" long and Hubby was spanking pretty hard tonight and it made me wonder if it could do any damage to the underlying tissue.  Anyone have any experience with this?

I would ask my doctor, in all seriousness. Even though you may feel healed, you may not be fully healed.I wish you luck and I am very pleased to hear how good you feel!

proudsub, I would definitely be careful with this.  I wouldn't recommend it and would definitely check with your doctor.

I had surgery last July and asked my doctor about the healing tissue beneath the incision, for this very reason.  He said often times there are blood clots that linger beneath the surface (sometimes deep, sometimes not) for months.  My surgery was on my breast and we had to be extremely careful with it for a very long time.  I would say it took about 4 months to completely heal to where he felt comfortable squeezing them, and when he did, I didn't wince in "unnatural" pain.

I can understand that 7 weeks feels long enough, trust me, I thought the same.  But it really is too soon, in my opinion.  :(

I would reiterate to ask your Doctor on this but my own knowledge would caution me to avoid that area for quite a while afterward. Scar tissues and things are likely still forming beneath that healed incision and also more importantly you've got a hip replacement? or at the very least fairly fresh trauma to the bone under there that needs time to get settled in and heal. Any kind of impact may jeopardize the success of your hip surgery in the long run.

Wishing you a speedy recovery,
Miss A

Thank you everyone for the advice.  I will check with my doc when i go back in Feb.  I did get brave and ask my PT today and he said he didn't see a problem with light impact play.  He said i could go back to my full weight workouts now but to lower the weights for quads and hamstrings for awhile, and also i can use the treadmill if i hold on to the sides and go slowly, yeah!!![:)]

Scar tissue is weaker and more sensitive and may never be as strong as the surrounding skin.  Take your time getting back to where you used to be able to play.

I agree with MsSaskia it will be more prone to feeling pain, and a bit weaker. Excuse the pun but you could always turn the other cheek. Weak I know but spanking on the other hip shouldn't hurt anything.

Seven weeks is not long enough, you are not entirely healed yet.  Complete healing of incisions takes months.  New scars will split open on you if they are subjected to enough force.

That's what we are doing for now. [:)]
