I have come to thinking about myself and Collarme and where on the 'message boards' I feel comfortable.It is here, the off topic discussion as this is where I post most. I ask myself why here, my answer would be, because outside of kink everyone is human and interested in other things, be it their daily lives, the reality of living.

Kink is a small fraction of what we are, but we have to live and by living, we find things which we question in our daily existance. This interests me, what people who are here are in reality, despite the screen names.

To be honest, I have seen screen names which describe in the case of those that like the letter 'D', thinking something of them,(I am switch), I realise them to be human like me by their posts within this forum.

So, after all that boring stuff, whereI feel the need to explain my thoughts, I would like to know of others here, who defers to this forum mostly, is this the place , where people who regularly post on the forums post most?

I see people here on this forum that do not go elsewhere, do they feel a reality here, what do they feel?

I have my reasons for coming here,what do the rest of you think,just a post to answer, or do you feel this might be a place to know others outside of what attracts us all to this site?

Actually I have found people here to be, on average, of higher intelligence than the norm.

Yep, lots of bright folks congregate here, with topics that interest me.

I'll post in the other sections at times, but I really don't care about the best way to tie a knot, or the "old guard".

This is by far, my favorite section.
I adore most of the regular posters here.
Most of us here, can agree to disagree, and that is what I enjoy
about this forum the most!

It hadn't ever been something I've paid attention to, so I have no idea if I post here or 'there' more often. I do feel more comfortable in this section, as you said it is a bit more real. It is less one-dimensional IMO than the other sections. But I tend to post just about everywhere at some point [:D] because I have days where I am really jammed full of words. I think that those that post here the most [over other sections] have a better style of writing. I like the wider variety of topics too but sometimes I feel there is a divide. Sort of 'up there' and 'down here'. Heh, UpstairsDownstairs in a way?

I would say for the past 6-8 months, I actually READ
more of the posts here than anywhere else.
Often, this is the only section I will even bother to go,
and certainly the section that I post on the most.

I use the forums now because most of the small groups on MSN and Yahoo have closed.  I used to run one on MSN. 
It took some getting used to because the site is huge.
There are not many bdsm sites of this nature out there.   I choose this one.

I understand MissSCD, but the OP was talking about THIS forum in particular,
not all the message boards.
He wants to know those of us that prefer the OFF TOPIC SECTION, as
opposed to the other message boards here.

**Funny aside, when I first started posting on the boards last year, I had so many topics
that ended up being moved here by the mods, I decided to just start posting here!**

Me too.  I adore this off topic. Ild aqree the intellect is higher here then on typical msg boards.  I am not officially part of the lifestyle- but I relate to folks here.

I post here and the health section most often.  Reason being the lifestyle part of the boards...well many are so off its not funny.  There are some good discussions going on but it is so time consuming to find them on a normal basis.

I have a medical background so the health section and me fit quite nicely.
Here its a quick stop.  You read what catches your eye, post and move on without being stuck here for hours on end reading stuff you really didn't want to read in the first place.

I enjoy this section because most disussions are new topics.  After being on CM for several years the other repetitive topics get a little old, although i understand why newbies ask the same questions that we asked at first too. I read a lot here but don't post a lot because it seems everyone else is so much better informed than i am that i don't have much to contribute.[:)]

I think… on CM anyway… this is the best place to find interesting people and conversation. I love to get riled up …solve the worlds problems and lead those that are uninformed or of less intelligence to the light. And usually in this process I find that I was not so smart after all and sometimes learn something.

The side of me that comes out in this forum is the real me...as they say… not the once in awhile kinky sub want-a-be in the profile. I’d be willing to bet most people show their real side here more often then anywhere else in CM.

I don't think I favour "off topic" more. I get just as tired of the same snarky political arguments as I do, the one true way, BDSM related arguments.

I think there are little gems hidden all over the boards if you have the time to look for them.

I almost always post here.  Occasionally, I will make posts in other sections.  But it's not often.  I think people rehash the same old stuff in the lifestyle forums over and over again, and frankly I find it boring and childish.  We all have our kinks, and it really is pointless to argue about them.  If I wanted to argue about who is real, and who is a poser...I'd go back to high school. 

I find most of the people in the Off Topics to be intelligent, thoughtful individuals.  We discuss something new everyday. Frankly I find that refreshing in a site filled with perverts and sexual deviants; discounting myself of course.  [;)]

I blush to confess this but I stumbled upon the CM website one lonely – girlfriendless – winter night looking for whack off material. Wow I thought, looking over all the profiles, this is like people watching, only with an interesting twist. I soon found the message boards and it wasn’t long before I was "hooked," on the off topic section. I actually started out in the Gorean section but soon concluded that a large portion of those people are half nuts (I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, for a bunch of guys who worship at the alter of uber-masculinity some of them sure can be a sensitive and touchy lot).

I easily do ninety percent of my posting in the Off Topic section for a reason that others have listed, namely the intelligence level seems somewhat higher than other message boards but more than that is the intellectual diversity (posters here run the gamut from left to right). Most message boards tend to be monolithic in their political outlook. It seems that ninety-nine percent of the posters are of one political persuasion or the other (with the occasional mental masochist who enjoys getting flamed) who do nothing but parrot each other in comfortable agreement. I find it ironic that the one place I can find true intellectual debate is not a university website but a so called "kink" site.

As for the rest of my posts, most of them are in the Humor section with an occasional smattering elsewhere. This doesn’t mean I don’t read a lot in the other sections. Sociology is an interest in mine and this website is a sociologist’s wet dream for investigating alternate life styles and sub-cultures.
