I spent 5 years out in the SF scene and from my own experiences I'll have to agree with some of the earlier comments that you'll have much more luck going to the dungeons and munches than online. Not like you can't find a munch to go to in the Bay Area as it's possible to attend one just about every day of the month somewhere. I actually miss the frequency of munches there compared to our new location where they all seem to be infrequent and always conflict with my available schedule.
I do know a few real people here on CM that are active within the SF scene, but no far more that aren't online.
