Status: offline 		whats the best hair removal cream for gentials ? 

I used to get some a few years ago - before  um's - that was for  black men (i'm white feamle) and came as a powder in a green  container. it was the absolute best but now i cant remeber the name of the  product - so any recommdations would be appreciated.

Status: offline 		thanks for that. I think that is the same stuff - i dont remember the one i used burning but then it was before the first UM which i think consumed most of my brain.

If anyone has any recommendatiosn for hair removal cream - i would be grateful.

but not nair - tried it at the weekend and it sucked and burned and still stings on my test patch...

i am going to looking to brazillian but none of my local places will do it for me as i am due to have a um in a few months.

Status: offline 		nair for men may be worth a look. I'm a guy and it's the only stuff that works for me without leaving a nasty chemical burn. I could use various other things (including regular nair) 1 or 2 times, but after that it'd leave a horrible burn. This one I've been using for several years now with no ill effects.

I don't know what's different about the formula, whether it's chemically balanced for a man or just a more mild concoction, so I can't say if it'll work for you, but I've been thrilled with it.

Status: offline 		I've been using Veet. A bit harder to find than Nair,  but does not irritate my skin off the way Nair does.

Status: offline 		Every depilatory cream I've ever seen includes a warning that it should not be used on genital areas, and I believe it's for a good reason. The skin there is way too sensitive for these harsh chemicals.

I have never read of a single person who used one of these creams on their genitals successfully. By successfully, I mean that it removed all the hair easily, and didn't irritate the skin excessively. If anyone has had a good experience using a depilatory cream on their genital area, I'd love to hear about it.

Again, Nair for Men has done wonders for me. I've been using it for years now and have never had any irritation. It did remove all the hair easily (well, there are always a few stray ones that are stuck) and never any problems afterwards. The only thing I've noticed is that I've had to leave it on for longer than the package indicates - it says very clearly not to exceed 15 minutes (I think it only wants you to keep it on for 8), and I typically go 20.

And that is also after getting nasty chemical burns from various other products over the years (including regular nair), so I know that those things normally irritate me extremely badly. By "extremely badly" I mean "balls are bright red, skin is flaking off, and it hurts to touch them at all for days". So I'm not some superhuman that's immune to the ill effects, this stuff has just worked flawlessly for me. Virtually complete hair removal and absolutely zero irritation after the fact. YMM, of course, but I highly recommend it.

The 'good reason' is more likely a CYA measure to protect the company from stupid consumers.  As long as you keep the product off the mucous membranes, it's no more dangerous than using it on your legs.  It just requires a little common sense.

Veet and Magic Shaving powder use the Thioglycolate family of chemicals (calcium or potassium, usually). I thought Nair used a sodium salt, but I think they recently changed and now use the Thioglycates as well.

Personally, I would not want to use Nair or other chems down there. I have been using the Seiko CleanCut for years and am pretty happy with it.

I think no matter what else you do - go SLOW. You don't know, even with a small patch test elsewhere, what your effect might be, It might be fine, it might hurt like a peckerhead! :) At some point, you'll find a combination of things that does it for you.

Good luck. I love smooth, but I can't say I like gettin' there!

i ask because i'm extremely fair, with very dark hair. i've had other body parts waxed professionally, and as long as the practitioner is good, i'm fine (and, being who i am, i actually kind of *enjoy* the pain and the after-tingle).

but...if the practitioner is inexperienced or rushed, i get horrible bruises and occasionally, bleeding! so needless to say, i've been wary of trying the genital wax thing, although i long to experience it, both sensually and hair-removal-y.

any ideas would be thoroughly welcomed. if you know of a good practitioner, pro or lifestyle, please give me a referral!!!

Status: offline 		Nair has a bikini area formula that I use but have to keep it on a bit longer than recommended.  My one friend uses Veet on her legs and likes it, haven't asked her about other places, she'd be shocked.

Status: offline 		thanks everyone - I have had a ton of advice through this forum and based on that I have gone and ordered the Body Bare Shaver (http://www.personalshavers.com/bodybare/shaverproducts.html?1974)  I found a good seller on ebay (http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZillioc) who had it for $30 including the ladyshaver which i thought was worth seeing if it was any good as even a new pack of blade cartridges are $15 here.

so far several sites and forusm and personal recommendations have given it good reviews so when i get mine, i'll do a review :)

Yes, please let us know how it works for you. I've been considering various shavers, including the Seiko Cleancut, the Body Bare Shaver, and the relatively new Phillips product - I think it's called the Body Groomer? I'd love to see reviews from anyone who's tried any of these. By the way, the Phillips product has a hilarious video on the website.
