While reading this forum, I think I could make a fortune out of it. We all are a bit frustrated. I think I should define a test at the doorstep like...Errr mmmh ...Any idea? :-)

KaylinSilverfurr -> RE: Switch only club (1/15/2008 3:29:09 PM)

-Fast Response-

Well, in theory the idea could work as a Switch Only club. Problem is "testing" people at the door on their degree of switchiness.

Slightly OT, but still related:
I travelled to Australia this summer and spent some time in Melbourne. They have a club there that was initially designed as a "Men Only" club, not for BDSM purposes or what not, but eventually that was relaxed a tad to allow gay men and lesbians to attend. Myself and a friend from Melbourne went down to go and see if we could get a few drinks, this friend of mine being gay said I should have no problems getting in if I was with him. Long story short? They turned me away at the door for two reasons: 1. I was wearing open-toe shoes, and
2. I apparently did not look 'lesbian' enough for their tastes.

Granted, your club, your rules, and you could narrow it down even further that you have access granted on a Membership Only basis, like two clubs I know in the city I live in. A Private club with "Invite Only" membership might be enough to turn away potential scary people and people looking for a one-night fuck buddy.

Um. You're talking about "the peel" . And it's not a case of "your club, your rules" and just because you're with a gay dose not mean you get entry. These guys had to get a legal desision made. It was a bit more complicated than, Oh, he's gay so she should be allowed in. They had A LOT of homophobes attending to see "the show" (to see gays pick each other up) and it was becoming a non-gay-friendly club because of a few vile straight people. So if you don't mind researching your facts before you open your mouth...

Back to the topic: it is difficalt to test if someone is switch or not, but if you made it "switch only" at the door, then a lot of doms and subs (the close minded ones who dislike switching, who are the ones who most switches have problems with), wouldn't have any interest in going. Testing wouldn't be required. [;)]

bekaness -> RE: Switch only club (1/15/2008 4:57:04 PM)

Hmm isn't this the problem with regular bdsm places? I personally think switching is just as real as subbing or domming.. what about people like me who would want to be allowed in?

Now, now, no need to get your knickers in a knot sweetie. If you're getting defensive about someone else's experience, you need to take a step back and relax.
It was my experience, I was there, the friend I was with is gay and I myself am an LGBT bisexual supporter. Both he and I were told when we were at the Opium(? I believe that's what it was called, we both went to go and show support and love at an Asian Drag Queen show, which was wonderful.) and we both asked the bartender if I might have trouble getting in. They said no, that I shouldn't. They may not have been aware of the dress code (which I have no issues with.)
So maybe next time -you- yourself should lead by example and research -your- facts before opening -your- mouth.

The question at the door would be:
Dominant or submissive?
The answer to get in would be yes and yes.

Boondoggle -> RE: Switch only club (1/15/2008 5:15:21 PM)

The idea of a switch only club/group/space wouldn't work. An event that advertised itself as switch friendly, or even switching encouraged would be an excellent idea. 'Only,' 'true,' 'real' and other such divisive words do nothing to help with discriminatory attitudes and generally just cause more trouble. A place where everyone is welcome and encouraged to switch would be tons of fun, as it would keep those with shitty attitudes about switching away.

liketophoto -> RE: Switch only club (1/15/2008 5:25:41 PM)

I thinks this is a matter of preference of kinks.
If you wish to switch then you would be welcome, if not why would you want to go?

I have been excluded by matters of preference many times.
Look at how many "couples" look for female subs ONLY.
It cannot be taken personally.
Respectfully, LTP

haha. Your statements, the general ones, were all wrong. The only thing that was even partly true (unless you made that up too) would have been what they said at the door, not all the other stuff, about the clubs policies and the laws of the land. Damn girl, wouldn't be a backpacker would you?

I related a personal experience I had on how restricting memberships is not always the best way, and now some 18 year old tart that thinks she knows everything because now she's old enough to drink and rent porn.
Tell you what sweetie, how about you go and take your medication and talk to me like a reasonable adult when you've grown a little more in maturity.

I'm not going to debate this with you. Period. It was the experience I had. Grow up and move on.

I know more about it because I actually watch the news, read the papers, look beond myself to learn things, I don't just go, "oh, I know everything because I went to this club ONCE and they wouldn't let me in".

And in reference to meds: I think you, need them sweet cakes.

bekaness -> RE: Switch only club (1/15/2008 8:11:32 PM)

I guess I was thinking of a switch club more of a safe place for a subbie to have their first time out(now I have been to a bdsm event before besides a munch) but since everyone is in touch with their submissive side..hmmm.. guess it's my inexperience showing here >grins<

Dang! too late, it already has.
I went to several switch-only parties last year. They were a blast!

Oh wow. That's so cool! It's a shame we don't have any of that fun stuff here... the scene is quite subdued.

KaylinSilverfurr -> RE: Switch only club (1/15/2008 8:55:38 PM)

Ugh, nevermind. If you're going to be close-minded, you're not worth the time.

Jesus, you just had a go at me (some pretty hefty personal attacks) as well as some ignorant things about gays, then you said, hey, i no say no more, and i said my last peice, to DEFEND myself, when you said some pretty damn hurtful stuff, and then, hey, you already said it was over, so you come back and call ME closed minded? Just shut up and quit while you're behind.

Wow ladies I believe naked jello wrestling is in order to settle this dispute [8D]

OP, I'm not sure having a club for switches only would really help with the negativity towards switches.  Wouldn't restrticting access make us like those that judge us?

I was actually thinking something like that. It's just stupid. I correct something and she says I'm a slut and need to take meds, like WHAT THE HELL MAN!?

laurell3 -> RE: Switch only club (1/15/2008 11:34:51 PM)

Heh my call for naked jello wrestling is not unique and is merely an attempt to bring humor to the situation not take sides.  Now what flavor jello do you prefer BiteGirl?  [;)]

Lime, no - Strawberry.

Hm. What do you think? I've never been in one of these, I'm a jello fight virgin...
