For sale this week at the Barrett Jackson auto auction in Scottsdale, AZ; I think this will go on the block sometime Friday:

Here's a link

This is a recreation rather than an original, so it might go relatively cheap . . . compared to a lot of the cars at that auction, meaning it ain't gonna be cheap at all for most folks.

I'm going to save my money for Robosaurus -- that gets auctioned off on Saturday.

I thought T-Rex was taller than 20 feet.  I think the movies took liberties with that.

Last Year at the Comic Convention in San Diego Mr. Barris spoke about the Batmobile, one of the actual models that appeared in the TV series was on display.  Because of budget and such the models that were built for the show were not very good.   The outside looked great but that was about it.  Mr Barris further stated the later Batmobile perhaps like this one were built far better.

Thanks! That's interesting to to hear it right from the daddy of the Batmobile. This Batmobile must have meticulous construction; otherwise they wouldn't have it scheduled for auction during the prime bidding time on Friday . . . it ought to bring big $$.

please note that is length not hight... I did not see hight

Screw Batmobiles, even the real ones, if any ever existed. I could take them with me Olds, and if I had a reall nice one I could really take them, yes, even against the turbine engine.

The turbine has certain characteristics, important ones like torque curve. Even though they can go 200, I am going 100 so fast on a racetrack that I win. This would be in a W34 GT Toronado. I had one that was only five years old but had over 100K on it, then I had a non-W34 GT that had 42K on it, but it was smashed. I used many parts.

In the one with 100K on it, it still had a passing gear at 105 MPH. The spedometer went up to 135 and I did not doubt that it could do it, even that worn out. The thing is it should get there quicker. On a short run, it could actually win. I have never been shoved into the seat by G force ever since I had that car.

There are a few things about that car I can tell you. Zero to sixty might be five or seven seconds or something, I do not care, but zero to forty is almost immediate, I don't say immeasurable, but that first gear is fast. It had a modified cam, bigger intake valves and a special torque convertor in a THM 425 which was specially designed for the front wheel drive, which was not transverse BTW.

The THM425 is almost the same as the 400 but folded over. Mine had a shift kit. I know because if I downshifted, it downshifted, I mean at any speed. The safety was disabled. It also did shift hard.

All this should be able to beat the Batmobile, because traction on the ground is the limiling factor. The is why racecars do burnouts before a race. I did not need to do that with this particular weight distribution. I had a 455 right over the drive wheels, and linear torsion bar suspension. What, you think all the great invwentions cane out this year ?

This is 38 year old technology, and it would beat almost anything. Exceptions might be a good STS, or maybe a Northstar. Foreign cars could come into play also, like Maseratis and all that, but if we are taling domestic cars, most can forget it.

Many cars can burn out, but then how fast do they actually go ? Burning out is a waste of energy. The ONLY reason to do it is to warm up the tires.

Geez, I am really off on a tangent ain't I ?

Later.

The Batmobile sold for $185,000, plus an 8% (I think) commission. That was only about $180k more than I was willing to spend on it.

Damn!  My bid for Robosaurus came up just bit short -- I bid $2,500 for it, but another guy got it for $575,000. Oh well, maybe I'll get something next yet.
