The nomer "deal breaker" suggests to me there is a "deal" in place to be broken. "Hard limits" are things i cannot envision myself ever agreeing to...but that's between me and a potential Dom or Master.

Deal breakers for a Man i am involved with include lying and cheating...which typically a friend cannot do, inasmuch as friends are not committed to monogamy with me.

Then there would be : losing control while angry

bigotry

cruelty -- to person or animal

stinginess -- i like organized, financially responsible men, but i cannot abide a cheapskate -- just a personal quirk

lying -- about anything

drama -- i do not mean someone has a illness or such; i mean the manufatured kind, e.g., breaking up to make up. These people have no place in my life

disrespectiing me or mine -- but this would have to be serious, and i'd forgive if it were out of character

i suppose that's all; i guess i cannot recall enough friends i have dropped (and the men i have dated i am trying to forget).

Can't think of any deal breakers, well maybe if she smelled like a fish factory, as for limits the only limits she has are what I allow her to have. She knew this before she entered the relationship and as our relationship is based on trust she trusts me not to put her into any danger or cause her any permenant damage. If you asked her what limits I have she would only be able to say one and I'll let you wonder which one that is.

Yeah, "deal breakers" and "hard limits" are two different things for me. The hard limits refer to sex or bdsm-related activities in which I have no interest at all. The deal breakers are relationship things that apply in all contexts: Republicans, racist bigots, cat haters, prowar geeks, gun nuts, the obliviously out of shape, etc.

What about "deal sweeteners"?

I don't know how someone can be begged, cajoled into accepting deal-breakers. My big one is married, spouse does not know.
It only SEEMS like a no-brainer.
Lives with mama is another one. Especially if he is close to my age.

In addition to the obvious (racists, Republicans, etc.), the deal breaker that most immediately comes to mind is emailing me a picture of one's penis.

Well, having a penis is probably a deal-breaker in itself.

Others- trying to top me before I've shown any interest in being topped, touching me without my permission (possessive/dominant touching, not just shaking hands and friendly hugs), or professing to know the "right way" to do BDSM.

I found a new deal breaker... I know this is a bit late.. but this clip explains it perfectly.
