ORIGINAL: daddyncherry Please explain this EXIF data you speak of.... As Justme696 pointed out, EXIF data is embedded in JPEG photos telling you the date the photo was taken, the camera used, possibly your real name & GPS location, etc. (depending on the camera and its settings). In addition to EXIF data, more than one person has given away private information by cropping people out of a photo without thinking about the EXIF thumbnail information (which could easily contain those people you *thought* you cropped out). In fact, even famous people have been caught naked when they *thought* they cropped out the body parts (see, for example http://www.consumingexperience.com/2007/06/editing-jpeg-photos-thumbnails-and-your.html ). I should point out that the original question wasn't necessarily restricted to collarme, but, applied to the response to any personal ad to people you, by definition, don't know. As we all know, the male:female ratio to responses to personal ads is decades to one so it behooves a guy to make the best impression on the first pass as he won't get another pass were he not to. Many ask for a face photo. Let's face it, woman can afford to be choosy (pun intended). So, while I remove the EXIF data and blur the photos slightly in response to an ad outside of Craigslist, I was just wondering what others do when a face pic is requested. Any other ideas for protecting privacy always welcome!
