Recently someone sent me pics that had supposedly been taken the day before 'just for me' but they were obviously professionally done, stolen off a website, and they were labeled as having been taken more than a year ago with a specific camera.  Busted!

Status: offline How do you protect yourself when you're asked for a pic in response to a personal ad?

I fully understand why people send "body part" pictures in that it obfuscates who you are while still being risque enough for a personal ad response.

I don't worry about privacy. However, I also don't have time to be fueling every online wannabe's masturbation. Because my profile pic shows me in a half-mask, I will send him ONE clear face photo and ONE full length, CLOTHED front view photo, so he can see what kind of figure I have. If he wants more than that, he'll have to go through the lengthy process of convincing me that he is worth a date.

I'm curious about the part you bolded. Are you implying that a personal response is "supposed" to be risque? Cause if a man is expecting me to send him anything other than a picture of me dressed in regular every day clothes, he's lost his flipping mind.

I'm not here to find sex partners...and my ideal partner is also not here for the sake of finding a sex partner...therefore, he obviousy would not disrespect me by asking for a risque photo before I even meet him. Sexy photos are something I take and show to my partner, not to some loser over the net.

Hell, I thought the way people did that was by sending out the same kind of pictures they have on their online profile.

You know, the ones that are so old that no one who actually knows them today would recognize them.  It seems to work for some of the people I've met.

SirJohnMandevill -> RE: What do you do to protect your privacy when sending pictures in reply to personal ads? (1/18/2008 4:28:06 PM)

Like someone else noted, my pics are in my profile for anyone to see. I suppose one might even figure out where I work if they put 2 and 2 and 2 together.

I've sent other pix to subs I've gotten to know well, and vice versa. No harm...so far.

Which is why a person shouldn't have skeletons in their closet, but rather should walk hand-in-hand with them down the street.

I made sure I "outed" myself long before anyone else got the pleasure.

MsStarlett -> RE: What do you do to protect your privacy when sending pictures in reply to personal ads? (1/18/2008 7:31:46 PM)

My deal is that if the photo has my face, then I'm completely and fairly conservatively clothed.  If it's a bit on the naughty side, then yo don't get to see my face.  "Plausible Deniability."  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Please explain this EXIF data you speak of....

As Justme696 pointed out, EXIF data is embedded in JPEG photos telling you the date the photo was taken, the camera used, possibly your real name & GPS location, etc. (depending on the camera and its settings).

In addition to EXIF data, more than one person has given away private information by cropping people out of a photo without thinking about the EXIF thumbnail information (which could easily contain those people you *thought* you cropped out). In fact, even famous people have been caught naked when they *thought* they cropped out the body parts (see, for example http://www.consumingexperience.com/2007/06/editing-jpeg-photos-thumbnails-and-your.html ).

I should point out that the original question wasn't necessarily restricted to collarme, but, applied to the response to any personal ad to people you, by definition, don't know. As we all know, the male:female ratio to responses to personal ads is decades to one so it behooves a guy to make the best impression on the first pass as he won't get another pass were he not to. Many ask for a face photo.

Let's face it, woman can afford to be choosy (pun intended). So, while I remove the EXIF data and blur the photos slightly in response to an ad outside of Craigslist, I was just wondering what others do when a face pic is requested.

Any other ideas for protecting privacy always welcome!

they were obviously professionally done, stolen off a website

As you noted, the EXIF data gives away both the camera used and the date taken. Like you, I too have found a few "profile pics" here on Collarme that were, in reality, taken from professional pornsite web pages (just one example is "slavelyn").

Worse yet, the USENET is rife with "amateur photos", thousands of which can be had every day, of normal people who fell for the professional picture collectors (plus sites like http://coolvoyeur.net or http://www.amateur-naked.com which I suspect are similar in where they obtain *some* of their content).

1. One approach might be to put the RECIPIENT's email address on the photo in a prominant place. This would discourage their sending out the photo since, effectively, you lose control the minute you send it out.

2. Another approach to eliminate the EXIF threat would be to standardize on GIFs instead of JPEGs

3. A third approach might be to only send out thumbnail-sized images, perhaps at 72 dpi and 16 million colors.

Any other viable ideas to protecting privacy when sending out personal pics in response to ads that request them where you won't get considered unless you do send out a picture?

MistressVnus -> RE: What do you do to protect your privacy when sending pictures in reply to personal ads? (1/18/2008 10:53:45 PM)

Wow.  Learn something new everyday.
I wonder if the same applies to other forms of files such as Gifs, Tiffs, PHP's and such?
In other words, take a jpeg, convert it, do your changes, then convert it back.
Would it still hold the EXIF data?

realtuffdom -> RE: What do you do to protect your privacy when sending pictures in reply to personal ads? (1/18/2008 10:57:10 PM)

What works for me is to send my picture from my hard drive and then immediately go into my hard drive and delete the photo. This works every time because after I've deleted it, it is no longer accessible on my hard drive.

Yup... combine that with the need for privacy, and the choice is simple- i just send pictures of somebody else who is actually good-looking. Win-win! [:)]

There are picture collectors here,   one goes  under the name  amateursexhib
who emails people here at collarme  and is trying  to get them to put their photos on their website www.amateursexhib.com  promising payment/reward for each time their photo is viewed.

And photo theft is not just personal naughty photos,  I know another site I go to several members have had their dog photos pirated and used to make photo charms and other items which are then sold on ebay, you can use water marks but there are people that can use photoshop and edit out the water marks

Meh, maybe im just being thick, but I cant see anything that people could do with my picture, I dont look good enough for people to steal it, and anyone who ever wanted to "out" me to my family/employers would get laughed out of town :P

dogobedience -> RE: What do you do to protect your privacy when sending pictures in reply to personal ads? (1/18/2008 11:38:17 PM)

Privacy is not a major issue for me, my face is on both mine and my properties profile.

Most of the pictures I send initially or in reply are the one's on my profile or kali's (Tigerproperty). The only difference is they are not cropped to conform to standard and practices of collarme and show a girl(s) in some form of domination.

i do seem to attract 'em.......a previous so called Dom had such a hissy fit when he couldn't manage me that he did exactly what he had been threatening to do....and sent 'our' alt pics to my employer and to my publisher....there were web controls at the former so i doubt they got through and in any case none of them would have recognised me from my arse (hopefully)................
the last idiot who wouldn't say no ended up changing his profile here for the third time and used the same craggy pic of himself on all three profiles so he was instantly recognised by the circle of submissives who were already avoiding him like the plague.....
this is not a slur on dominants and masters whatsoever, respect to most....where would i be without you.?...there are just some bad apples who are arrogant enouh to believe that they still appear attractive after they have spread their rot into the heart of collarme.........
