I'll quote Erin and hope she doesn't mind:  "Arnica, Arnica, Arnica!"

I haven't used it myself, but I've heard wonders about it.

i believe it's an herbal, i know it's a supplement. you can get it at health food stores and some larger supermarkets. one of my ex dommes used to use it.

You'll find that by applying ice immediately after and several times withing the first few hours of the scene (first 24 hrs if bad) will retard the bruising immensely.

The ointments and such are great for later, however, bruising is bleeding, or hemmoraging under the skin and ice helps to coagualte and stop the bleeding.  Even after the play has stopped, the bleeding continues.  This is why you often have worse marks the following morning.

Hello bisubnewbie. Ice soon after. Heat the next day. Take a picture before, they make nice Holiday cards. RL.

I second the Arnica suggestion and would like to add that taking Arnica pills 48/24 hrs prior to a session will minimised excessive bruising and prepare the body for the trauma.  It may also be applied topically as a gel on bruises and can act as an anti-inflamatory pain relief remedy for pre-existing sprains, aches and so forth.  Some studies suggest that Arnica gel, in some cases, can be as effective as pain relieving gels that contain ibuprophen ...

Your mileage may vary, of course.

There are a lot of ideas floating around out there.  Arnica can be found at any health food store.  It does not work on heavy bruising.  I used tube after tube trying to get rid of a bruise..there is no way it was making the time any less...it took about 9 months for the bruise to disappear.

Some people say Vitamin C...some say Vitamin K.  Really it all depends on what works with you.  Bruising, hematomas are a blood clot beneath the skin.  So whatever makes the blood flow freely is your best bet.
Some say massaging the area can make the clot dissipate faster.

Arnica is great for the healing process, but it doesn't minimize marking.  It just speads up the recovery.
You can take them as a small pill, available from chemists and healthfood shops - or you can use as a direct ointment which you can massage in.  I would recommend the massage, only very gently and not prolonged, but short and often.

Ice applied to the area - with a towel between the ice and your skin. 20 minutes at a time.  Frozen peas make a great compress, that conforms to the area.  Ice for 24 hours, then heat.
Actually - my master can beat a sub, and not leave marks - or can leave marks if he wants. It has something to do with how hard he strikes. I have seen him send a sub into subspace and not leave a mark .

vitamin c will help with bruising. If you're getting a good amount of vitamin c (say a glass of orange juice daily), you should be in good shape. Some of the B vitamins help with blood circulation, so that may help, too.

But the easiest way to minimize them is not to cause them. Is your dom actively trying to mark you up in a manner that lasts for days? Realistically, at some point it doesn't matter what supplements you're putting in to your body - if he wants to leave bruises that last, he's going to. In some respects, supplementing your diet to minimize the bruising may make things worse as he has to strike harder and over longer periods of time to get his desired result.

If the goal is not to leave marks (and they're nice, but not required for an intense session), or to leave marks that only last a short period of time, then your dom needs to practice more. Maybe he'll also need to switch to a different implement that's easier to control or less likely to mark.

That's something to sort out between the two of you, though.

Not saying it isn't here but I've never seen arnica in a pill form in any health food store around here.
It is always the cream.

The other ideas are great. I only mention this because it has not come accorss.

Pure vitamin E oil works very well with the healing of burises. Visit a drug or natural store to find the strongest concentration of Vit E oil you can get you hands on. You can also order it on line with a simple Vit E google search. The best part is that you are only looking at spending ten dollars at the most.

Please let us know what ends up working best for you as we are all different and like to find better ways for quick recoveries from scenes. After all, the whole point of healing fast is so we can do another scene ASAP.

you mean you don't enjoy the bruises???

i was discussing just this topic with a friendly Dom who hadn't had much experience with actually bruising his sub, and his feelings about it. and shared my own feelings of absolutely ADORING the morning after (or moments-after) bruises. even when they hurt. as long as they don't show (for work), i really like them on my tits, getting brushed all the time as gentle reminders of play gone by.

in discussing this with other subs, they enjoyed the bruising, too.

then again, non-bruising play is fine too! (and a good skill to hone.)

To hasten the disappearance of a bruise, apply a poultice of fresh pinapple to the bruised area. It's not a complete miracle cure, but it can make a bruise disappear in half the time (or less) that it normally would. To make the poultice, skin a fresh pinapple (not canned) and chop, then crush, the flesh until it's very juicy. Pack the juicy flesh into a cloth and hold the cloth again the bruised skin. I hope I don't have to remind you not to get this in your eyes or on other sensitive areas.

Pinapples contain an enzyme called bromelaine that is very effective at breaking up the proteins and red blood cells which are the primary components of a bruise. Once broken up, the circulatory system whisks them away and the bruise fades.

i'm afraid i agree with Pamela...i do so love admirings Master's marks over the next several days...it kind of keeps the session going, reinforces my submission to him, if i end up having to wear long pants or long sleeves in the summer...then so be it, my body is His to mark in any way He wants to.
*Note...to the OP...taking aspirin, as people do to prevent heart disease, will cause you to bruise MORE easily, as it is an anticoagulent...so use the other equivalent pain meds if needed. Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen are ok

I read on a spanking site that taking iron supplements (or, I imagine, a multi-vitamin that contained iron) would help make one less susceptible to bruising.
Some pain medications work by thinning the blood. You might consider cutting back on aspirin. If you're on any other medications, they might be a cause as well.
Aside from that, just do your best to treat a heavily bruised bottom (or any other area, for that matter) as an injury. Ice it, elevate it, put some pressure on it.
If the bruises are interfering with your life, you might ask the bruise-causer to keep that in mind and ease up a little if you're playing and save the heavy stuff for when you'll have some time to heal afterwards.
  Good luck, and happy playing!

FR:

Arnica is homeopathic. It works on the premise that "like cures like".
If your skin is open, do not apply arnica externally. It's great for bruises but not for open places. Id consider welts non-intact skin. You can take arnica internally in the form of either a liquid or tablets that dissolve under your tongue. You can get these and the topical application at a health food store.
