pink I totally and whole heartedly agree. I read about all that when I was a teen. then I look at the man W/we ALMOST put in office. I have so much Respect and honor for our troops past present and future. I have always felt the need to be out there again now. as far as the reservists......I'm so angry they are even out there..think about it......they only train for this ONE weekend a month 2 weeks a year....I'm sorry that isn't enough training for what is required of them all. THEY should be guarding our bases while our actve duty (while I still think we should pull out of there and the locals fend for themselves) should be out there taking out the stupid bad guys.....
Now! I don't mean to turn this into a political debate...but uuhh has anyone else read what Kerry has done?? he served in the Army I think it was came back threw away his 3 purple hearts in not only disrespect but in portest of the Vietnam war Spitting on our own troops AND then held the medals pretending they meant the world to him when he ran for office....and most people wanted him in office?? sure President bush has made mistakes but I doubt he has ever disrespected our troops

I guess this isn't the place to talk about my unit getting new F-16s or some of the places we deployed too. Yeah we did Kuwait and Quatar for the 'desert stuff' but we also deployed to Italy, Singapore, Australia, England, The Azores, Chile and a few more. Of course we didn't get to play with the snakes and scorpions so they made us stay in hotels...... Maybe I better quit now.

You guys must have been real heroes. If you didn't have snakes and scorpions, what in the world did you eat?

["sneak & peek" chuckle]

SirWaverider -> RE: Military (9/2/2005 2:30:56 PM)

let me guess "Air Force"??? lol well we can't all be roughing it and trying to digest dirt and MREs. some of them had to guard our transportation (ships) and others had to find a way to waste jet fuel...LMAO....(kidding)

i think only Kerry could answer what message he was sending by throwing away his purple hearts. It's so hard to re-create for someone younger what those times were like. Many vets joined the anti-War protest; others felt completely demeaned by the movement. The Vets i met were in college with me, after serving in Vietnam, and using their GI Bill benefits. It was literally possible to recognise them by their body language...they were so hyper-alert and so disconnected at the same time. It was heartbreaking to see what they had to endure in civilian life...it was impossible to imagine what the conflict had been like for them. We failed them completely...i certainly hope no one who reads my disagreement with the current conflicts takes it to mean i lack support or concern for our troops.

SirWaverider -> RE: Military (9/3/2005 7:56:58 AM)

pink.....in some cases it may be PTSD (post tramatic stress disorder) I have it and at times it's really hard to deal with it...My sub(wife) and I have just had our 14th wedding anniversary. We've been in the lifestyle less than a year..and at times it's really hard to play because in the back of my mind I'm literally affraid I'd lose it. she understands very well what I or any other military person that has "been there" is capable of doing...It was months before I could actually sleep through the entire night and even now I'm such a light sleeper it's a wonder why I feel rested in the morning. for my Brothers and sister at arms that suffers from this....I can understand and respect them more now than when in harms way taking out the bad guys..believe me THAT was easier.

WickedKev -> RE: Military (9/4/2005 10:31:03 AM)

20 Years Air Force for me and retired.

MasterBenedict -> RE: Military (9/9/2005 11:52:37 PM)

Howdy all!
I'm a former warrant officer candidate myself who ended out getting busted down to SPC-4
I was even in Germany when the 'WALL' fell
Except for one little detail... I ended out with Multiple sclerosis.
Take care y'all!

Pavel -> RE: Military (9/12/2005 2:14:49 PM)

Does 2 years of NROTC and currently being in ROTC count for anything?

PAVANE -> RE: Military (9/13/2005 2:32:19 PM)

Did eight years in the Royal Navy.

You were still in diapers back in my time boy. Seems your military experience failed you when it came to teaching you anything about respect.

NavyDDG54 -> RE: Military (5/29/2006 8:49:34 AM)

I'm currently in the Navy

GADomCpl -> RE: Military (5/29/2006 1:24:06 PM)

Man you brought up an old post.  Just a word of advice, I would probably get rid of your full name and rank in your signature.  Not that I don't trust the people here on CM, but its really not hard to hunt down a lot more info about you with just that.

Troy

keme -> RE: Military (5/29/2006 4:21:27 PM)

I am out now but did 10 years in the Navy. I have met quite a few people who were in the military or prior military in this lifestyle. I know I have a soft spot for military and have encouraged everyone who didn't have a plan for their life to donate 4 years to Uncle Sam (hummm he is a smart-a**ed maso I am sure) it is the least we can do for our freedom and to be more open minded to what military goes through.

spoiledlilguirl -> RE: Military (5/29/2006 9:37:02 PM)

Please be careful SIR. my father ,after two tours in vietnam, started to show signs of P.T.S.D. 20 years after the fact.

Moloch -> RE: Military (5/30/2006 5:47:25 AM)
