openmindedslave -> Are there getting to be to many prodoms for your Market? (1/23/2008 7:20:54 PM)

Noticed the other day that another Prodom has entered the market.. From a Prodom  situation, is the market getting cluttered with so many choices or is it a great time to be in the industry since its on a growth . And if anyone has comments on whether being a prodom has gotten better or has it changed in a negative way?
Any insight for the rest of us would be appreciated?

Do you mind elaborating on what you mean by "...in your market?"  Not sure how to reply to your post!

Market is a little generous..Thank you for pointing this out..

What I guess I am saying is I see alot of members on here deciding to offer prodom services. Fine! Great ! I was interested in knowing if there is getting to be more competion out here for clients as the number of people seem to be growing on the pro side. Was woundering if  being a Prodom has changed much in the last few years for the better or worst?

Looking for ideas and experiences to share with us

I have recently come to know someone who calls herself a "Pro-Domme" and "Lifestyle Domme", who in reality is nothing more than a high-class prostitute.  She has oral and vaginal sex with some of her "special" clients, and also goes away with them on vacation, all-expenses-paid, and in return she simply provides her services as an escort with sex.

In the past, I have met some very honorable women who are indeed lifestyle Dommes, and who are pro-Dommes to the degree that they do not have ANY type of sex with their clients, but instead simply provide a non-sexual service.  (Granted, the clients may get sexually excited, but with the legitimate pro-Dommes, there is never any sexual (oral, genital, or anal) contact, and NO fluid exchange.)

I believe that many (not all) of the so-called pro-dommes coming in now are just looking for an easy way to make money, and they see that these fetishes bring more money that straight prostitution, so they role-play, and call themselves whatever they want.

Just as in the vanilla world, there are those who take pride in their choice of lifestyles, and those who make a mockery of it.

I choose to associate with people of honor and integrity, and stay far, far away from the others......

Are you thinking of developing a franchise?

Have you seen an issue of Domination Directory International?  There's plenty of room in the marketplace for anyone to offer what they have.

HUH?  Where did that come from?  I was simply stating what I have seen lately - I have no interest in anything more than responding to the forum question.....

lol

It seems like any female who can buy herself a fetish outfit and a riding crop will call herself a pro domme.  Friends of mine that still go clubbing tell me that every other girl they meet at a goth club identifies as a dominatrix.  Statistically, less than 10% of them will have their own dungeons or any type of formal training.  Very few of them end up with their own websites, dungeons or know how to advertise or screen clients.  The ones that can stick it out for a year are, in relation to the number of reputable pro dommes, rare.

In a saturated market, only the very best can work full time as professional dominants.   Even then, business can be impacted when the market is intermittently flooded with fledgling pros.  Regular clients will use their entertainment budget for that month to go check out the newbies.  They'll learn that the newbies look cute in an outfit but really have no idea what they're doing and they'll go back to their regular mistress(es), but it's still a drop in income for the ones who've been in business awhile.  Savvy clients who want to get value for their money will do some research and check reviews and read up on whoever they want to see, but they're in the minority.   Also, because it's become so easy for the fledglings to get clients by doing things like setting up a MySpace page and only doing outcalls to hotel rooms, the business itself is changing and even pro dommes who've been around for awhile and have houses have had to change their business models to include things like phone and webcam sessions, videos or other profit-generating venues.  Running a business that depends strictly on one-on-one RT sessions is becoming a thing of the past.

After i ask Ma'ams permission, i'm considering going into the Pro-Dominant business.  Interested clients will have to ask for my Paypal account ID, then they can look at the pictures on my profile and imagine all the things they want me to do to them or do for me.  For this priveledge they will be required to pay a nominal fee into my Paypal account each time they choose to perv my profile.  i would also accept gifts from those who do not wish to pretend to be dominated by me but still understand that i deserve tribute for simply being a wonderful person.

So is it safe to say that those who really  see their industry as  a profession do not like the way its going ?

Ah, the highly profitable retifism market!  Good choice.

Competition in any business stimulates market conditions and creativity in services offered will help businesses stand out in an already crowded landscape, if there is one.. Target marketing is also important and drilling down deep into niche verticals is also necessary to carve out your own piece of the pie.

Most important, is to create a stimulating value proposition that differentiates you from your competition and do not forget to advertise. You cannot rely only on word of mouth. You MUST use integrated marketing solutions.

(oh, was this NOT a serious business question?)

For various reasons i have not read the OP....(Okay, mostly cause i'm just feeling bitchy, but hey!! :P)

My response to this question has to be, dude!!! What freaking market do You shop at that they have ProDommes there???

SimplyMichael -> RE: Are there getting to be to many prodoms for your Market? (1/24/2008 8:37:36 PM)

Pro-domme is prostitution and I don't have a problem with either.

Two things about that business piss me off.

Pro-dommes who think because they don't have sexual contact they aren't having sex and are somehow better than those who do.

Whining customers who bitch about high prices and yet whine about socialism.

Generalizations piss me off.

Not every athlete is a basketball player. Not every medical professional is a dentist.  Not every sex worker is a prostitute.  Not every professional who clarifies the difference in job descriptions and titles is saying one is better or worse than the other.

Industries change. "Adapt or survive" works in this industry just as in any other.  Dilettantes will come and go.  Meh.

Market, as in Meat Market!
