quote:

I was once describing a friend of mine as the weirdest person I had ever met, and the co-worker I was discussing this with looked at me and said "That means a lot coming from you."

Some years ago I was a Store Manager for a large retail grocery chain in the Southeastern United States. We had a conference in Chattanooga welcoming some new Manager's, and I brought my daughter, who was then 9 years old, to the dinner part of the conference. When we were preparing to sit for dinner a gentleman came and pulled my chair out for me and said, "Allow me to get that for you." as he reached for my napkin. My daughter, who was seated on the other side of me, said, "You just saved yourself a whippin." and snickered.

All the time at work, people have gotten so used to it that they now modify their speech around me. Or, they say something, realize I am present and take it to "the place" on their own, and most times I didn't even hear what was said.

I am quite used to it, and I like being the "freaky" girl especially in an area where women think if their husband looks at porn the husband is cheating on them.

thanks for reading this, have a great day,

pixie

Sinergy:

I understand, now, what it means to be called nuts.

For years my cousin would always tell me I was nuts. The statement hurt me as at that time I was very literal -- many, many, many, years ago.

A few years later she and I were talking and opened our hearts. I told her how hurt I was that she always labeled me nuts It was as if she was telling me I was out of touch with reality. She began laughing and laughing and finally told me she viewed me as different, I was like no one she knew, I did not fit in with her circle. Damn it, that was the best compliment I've ever received.

Halleluniah, now I know that nuts means to be yourself, and if that means I don't fit in with certain people, well, goodddddd. Just be yourself, nuts.

Communication causes much confusion, doesn't it.
